Western Colorado March 600 Yard Freedom Benchrest Report

We had unusually gusty conditions, even for western Colorado at this weekend’s match. It’s been a while since I have seen so many shots blown off the target. At least with Freedom rules, fewer than 5 shots (or more than 5) results in a penalty, but not disqualification, which means you can keep on shooting with a chance to place. So, our groups were bigger, and our scores were lower this month due to conditions. But we still managed to have fun.

We started off with Light Gun, and Scott Wilson won overall shooting his 6 BRX. We also had a new shooter, Ed Buniger shooting his .22 cal pistol and 80 grain Berger bullets. He put 5 shots on each of the four targets. Very impressive in these windy conditions!

Next was Tactical Gun, and this class was dominated by Randy Carter who won score agg, group agg and overall. Good shooting, Randy!

As the morning progressed, the windy conditions worsened. This showed up in some large groups and low scores in Heavy Gun. Randy Carter won score agg, and Jerry Carter won group agg and overall. Jerry Carter won Two Gun Overall.

We thought the wind would die down, but it actually got worse during the day.IMG_5465.jpeg

Sweet, is that the smaller of the Seb rests?

@seb

Congratulations to all winners!

Great job Ed, shooting a specialty pistol against BR rifles is not easy!

Thank you for using my son Christopher's AR250 rest!

I know his rest can also be used for centerfire benchrest and I encouraged him to make 'add on' legs extension or a wider base version.

The rest works great I use it in 22 f class also with the rifle, for the pistol if the control handle turned out a little sharper might help for pistol but may not work the movement correctly, still playing with it as is its great.
