Can cf action be converted w new bolt to 22 rf?

I have a quality Hart sleeved, Shilen trigger ppc 700 that needs a bbl.
I need a good single shot rimfire to be reasonably competitive in local club type matches.
Is this possible w/o rediscovering Uranus and building a rocket ??

Anything can be done. But something like this isn't worth it. It's not just moving the firing pin.

I have this little device that inserts into your chamber
you insert a 22 RF round into what is basically a steel dummy round that fits into your chamber and it does the rest for ya
I will grab it and take a picture
I have no idea if the company is still in business or not but any machinist should be able to duplicate it
Mine fits a 220 Swift and allows you to fire 22RF in a bolt action

It's not going to be cost effective to to do the conversion from a 6mm bolt to a 22 lr bolt. The barrel would have to be retenoned to fit the 700 action among other changes. A factory 22 lr is cheaper and Tikka as well as Bergera are 700 clones so some of your 700 parts would work.

Curtis Custom actions has a conversion kit so their actions can be rimfire. Don't know a whole lot about them though

One thing with the insert I would be most concerned with is
TWIST RATE
A 10 tw CF rifle would likely eat up lead projectiles.
But as I mentioned, I havent tried it yet
Maybe my worn out 220 Swift barrel would be perfect for a 22LR NOW haha

Tikka T1x rimfire is not a 700 clone, not even close. Bergara does make a rimfire model that has a 700 footprint but not all of their rimfire models do.

You're not going to get any reasonable result, especially with one of those inserts which, as I recall, were good for about I minute of rat at about 10 yards.
Sell the action and get a decent RF, even if you buy a nice CZ.

Sounds like you probably have a stock and you do have a 700 trigger. Not cost effective, but probably more so than trying to modify cf to rf, there are several 700 footprint barreled actions out there now. Bergara, vudoo, rimX typically have barreled actions available with bergara being the most cost effective but probably not the most accurate. Of the three only the vudoo offers or did offer single shot to my knowledge.

fwiw, the 7 twist on my AR upper with 22lr conversion kit works fine. I was worried about over stabilizing but the function has been fine so far, accuracy has been decent
