I have two Defiance actions that need triggers. I have one Jewell left in my stash. What is currently the best choice for a hunting rifle trigger?

Trigger Tech anything is not getting any consideration from me. Those things have been plagued with issues from the beginning.

Nice affordable trigger for that pull weight. Timney might take the bolt release off if you order directly.
I like the thin trigger option on these.

I like the Big & Andy Tacsport Pro 2 stage myself but since you want a heavy trigger pull you can go the B&A Dakota, this was designed for people that didn't need lighter pull weight triggers such as for hunting rifles . This one will adjust from 0.99lbs to about 4.41lbs.

For a hunting rifle, may want to consider a Shilen Std(1.5-3lb) trigger with safety and bolt release if you need a Rem 700 compatible trigger. I believe bolt release can be removed. Confirm with Northland.

Most hunters would say something not too light. For me much of the decision depends on what type and pull weight are you most accustomed to. And you certainly want a safety as unexpected things can happen in an instant! My target rifles are 1-2oz while those for the field are 1lb.
