Sierra makes a 109 now?
Anyway, doesnt matter
Are you using an 8 twist barrel?
--------------------------------------------
These are near max (1 grain under loads) for 115's with an 8 twist barrel
, so you coud start here and slowly work up
46.0 7827
50.0 H1000
I've tried other powder, Rl25, RL 26, 8700 etc. but I try to stay with what works best.
H1000 gave me best results in every aspect, consistency, temp stability, and most importantly
accuracy
---If you get ahold of some WC 857 that works well also in place of H1000
It is a touch slower requiring a couple grains more than H1000 but is very stable and accurate as well.
--------------
I also seat into the lands
--------------
Also be aware that an 8 Twist barrel is harder on a bullet than a 9 twist
So you may not be able to push certain bullets to max velocities
I have tried Berger 109's and they seem to hold up
Actually I contacted Berger and found their Target bullets have slightly thicker jackets than the hunting bullets
I once substituted Berger Hunting 115's for the Target 115's and they were blowing up
So I can only use the Target projectiles if I want Max Velocity
112 Matchburners worked pretty good as well if not driving them much past 3200 fps
a 6x284 with a good condition barrel will drive 115's to 3400 without pressure signs with the right powder and primer
F210's worked best for me, CCI BR2's are a good second choice if you cannot find F210's

Actually 107gr. 1:8" twist. For live varmint hunting, faster = better; more explosive effect on impact. I like to see parts coming down.

Thank you for the input!

Copy, makes sense
107 SMK's are great, So are the Lapua 105's (seriously, try them!)
Avoid anything Hornady in this cartridge except maybe the A-tips
but A-tips are expensive enough that pretty much goes back to
Avoid the Hornady's.
You'll love this cartridge
If you need anything further lemme know, been shooting this one for over 30 years.
It's my go to LR rifle, not much else can go 1000 yds with only 20 MOA of drop

107gr this year. I got a bulk box of 500 sitting on a shelf out in the shop.

So, thanks,

ISS
