Gun parts that turn into new guns...

I've got the makings for a Remington 513T that I'd like to get going on. I just need a receiver. Oh yeah and a bolt. Should be able to get trigger and sear pretty easy, along with safety. And I need a good barrel. I guess I pretty much need everything except the stock -- and it needs a butt plate -- and trigger guard. jd

Y’all have no idea the amount of self control needed not to fill the 12 stocks I have on hand (yes, I had to count them between cups a coffee)…

Two actions in the safe, one action being barreled up right now for a 257 Roberts.
I've got an action, trigger, bottom metal, bases, rings, scope, reamer, dies and projectiles for a 257Bob imp, just missing the barrel and stock, this all started with a set of dies.

I got some 30 American brass a while ago (would like some more) then got some dies and an action a while latter, then a set of reamers arrived

Sooner or later the missing parts will arrive and then all I need is some time

Good deal. I thought about the improved version, and decided for what I wanted to use the rifle for, I didn’t need it. The compromise was going to a 9 twist vice the traditional 10.

I have built rifles, cos I found some dies in the cupboard... the support group meets on Thursdays, but mainly to talk loads for rifles that I built because I had dies...and beer.

Nephew and a friend were over last night with reloading supplies they bought at a yard sale. There were about 30 rounds of unfired 338 win mag ammo in the batch of goodies. They are now both looking for 338 win mags.

And who can give me info on this usa 6ppc chamber? Can I use alpha brass? Will I need to turn the neck? Anything I should know so I can get some components?
I also have a Sako 6mm PPC USA. My chamber is appx .270. I use Norma brass which gives me a loaded round of appx .267 with .003 clearance. I have never used Alpha 6mm PPC brass but from what I can gather if used I would have to turn the necks for proper clearance as a loaded round would be appx .271. Another chamber dimension which I read was that the freebore of the Sako chamber is .101. I have no way of measuring this but from my loadings this # seems to be right.

Thanks. What I've found shows the usa chamber with a .269 neck. I'm hearing alpha is .270 loaded. I dont have anything in my possession yet, just waiting like a kid for Christmas

Well it happened again.. I was looking for a trigger for my sako l579. I bought the wrong bix n andy trigger, I got a trigger for a l597/s491/591m....Well I found a factory sako 6ppc for what I think is a good deal. Is this a support group for this kind of behavior? Last year I had some norma 7x57 brass turn into a ruger #1. There are other instances that I'm drawing a blank to.

Would you mind sharing a link to that trigger that you bought please ?

Never mind, thanks I found it

I stopped going to gun shows after I last went to the Big Reno Gun show
I recently had a Gun Dealer invite me to Shot show in Vegas
I had to explain to him why I couldn't go
I have no discipline
I keep telling myself, "I have enough guns, I have enough guns"
I've opened a dresser drawer and dug in the back for something and said to myself
"ohhhhh, yeah, I forgot about that gun"
I really SHOULD sell a couple but then I also live by
"Once you aquire a gun, don't ever sell it"

Hilarious OP! The stories that people are sharing here are too funny. I can totally relate so I am able to laugh with you.
Too many stories of my own to list, but many good ideas such as…

-I’ll buy a replacement barrel since it is on sale…one year later…replacement barrel turned into an extra gun

And the list goes on from there. Always starting with the best intentions of buying a consumable part because it is on sale and morphing into a complete rifle over time. Lol. It is comforting to know that I am not alone.

Do it well before the Six Zero. Things start to feel different then.
That’s about when the bucket of “motivation” is near empty and the bucket of “round to its” is nearly full.

A older friend of mine put it in perspective one day… We were talking about my bush hog, my universal has bearing failure on the drive shaft. He asked me if I thought it would last till I didn’t need it anymore. I told him I figured it would. He said, let the one that buys it from your estate worry about it… You just can’t argue with wisdom like that.
