Weird Dents In New Lapua 6BR Cases

I broke open a new box of Lapua 6BR brass to make up 100 new 30 BR cases, and found these two in the mix. This is a pretty violent dent.

Jackie,
I know you don’t need to be told what to do, I have fireformed dents out before but those are pretty violent as you stated. Also as stated I wouldn’t waste my time trying to get replacements however as much as we pay to get there brass I would call and make a complaint or at least let them know there sending out a unusable product. It drives me crazy not having a full box of brass!…

I've got a new box of Lapua 6BR brass sitting on the shelf that I was saving for whenever I need it down the road.

I guess I should open it up and inspect them now before too much time passes!

Years ago I bought some “Seconds” .257 Weatherby brass from a guy at a gun show. 96% were fine, four had a wrinkle like that on the shoulder. I shined a light in them and one had a tiny pin hole in the narrow part of the fold.
I would use them to set up your neck turner, or send a picture back to the factory and tell them to step up their quality control.

I wouldn't shoot them! Gas cut your chamber and you'll be sorry you did! Not worth 2 pieces of crap. I gave up sending bad cases back. My time is worth far more than the cost of few cases. By the time you figure packing them, shipping cost, gas to go to post office and your personal time, it's not worth it.
All I've done in the past was email them a picture and they sent me replacement cases (+extras) to replace them.

Ok, just checked mine and sure enough... one case just as bad as Jackie's and two with a smaller crease.

Jackie, what was the lot number on your brass? Mine is LPT04705.

I hope you're not being facetious, but fire forming AI brass you learn how malleable brass is.
Secondly, I wouldn't attempt to tell Jackie what to do. I'm sure he's experienced enough that he had his mind made up before he posted the photo.
I stated what I would do, and I stand by that.

Like I said the 1st f'n time shoot'm!! I really don't need a long drawn out explanation of what you or anyone else would do, or who's doing it.
They're compression buckles in the shoulders....
So shoot'm and they'll straighten out!!
Don't most custom die manufacturers recommend 3x fired to make custom dies?
And this is fresh brass??
F'kn shoot'm! And quit bitch'n bout it!!
I made a simple statement to the problem of failed quality to a product that everyone raves about, when the reality is be grateful you got it to begin with.

Fk'n fire me if you want to!

I had the exact same defect in 2 out out 100 6br cases. One I did not notice and fired it causing the neck to crack! This is the first time I have used Lapua brass so I am pretty disappointed after hearing all the great things about the!!

There’s no question they would send replacement brass what LCazador was getting at it wasn’t worth his valuable time to bother with it and I have to agree. Phone calls, trips to the post office for two pieces of brass?….
Wayne
...Definitely, I agree that it wouldn't be worth the time/effort to call, trips to the post office to send back a few pieces of brass. What I was trying to say was that I have never had to bother sending anything back to get replacements. All I have done in the past is send an email with a picture attached and Lapua/Capstone sent me replacements + a few extras.

I too am surprised they got thru quality control. They’ll replace them.

There’s some bad advice! Suspicious! Very suspicious! o_O

Life’s pretty short and the scrap bucket or trash never bites you.

what's happening with Lapua 6br brass? This is the 4th or 5th issue ive seen with 6br brass in a week on this forum and others.

Dents are one thing, creases are another. While they may blow out OK, I would probably try it just as a test.
Ref QC at Lapua, I wonder how fast the brass assembly line moves? And do they have a person on each side of line to cover the backside ?

IMO, its not just the defective pieces, its to let them know they have a problem and they need to fix it, or start including 5 or 10 extra cases in each box of 100.
