Derraco Engineering Ugly SRT Trimmer

The Forster case trimmer has a collet that fits between the handle that you use to power the drive rod/case & the base support collar. That collet has a set screw in it that you loosen to move the collet on the drive rod to adjust the length of the cartridge being cut & then the set screw is tightened.

The RCBS unit is basically the same principal, but it uses a double collet that has rough adjustment & the second part as a fine adjustment.

Both units require you to hand power the cutting function which is great if you are doing 50 cartridges, but when you are doing thousands, your hands won't cut the mustard.

This is why I use a small electric powered lathe to trim my .50 bmg brass. It is very accurate & supplies it own power via electric motor.

I totally forgot about the Srt UGLY trimmer since July of 2024, but have not been doing any brass work either. So after resizing almost 2k of once fired .308 brass, I opened up the trimmer, set the size of a finished case to 2.005 & stuck the trimmer in a DeWalt drill.

It took a little getting used to, but not much as the results were amazingly consistent in the length & the ease of trimming 0.030 off each case. The case mouth is perfectly flat after cutting & you can either bevel it or stick the brass back in a tumbler to remove the sharp edge & the sizing lube.

The only problem is that if you order on the website, the shipping is $50.00 as the trimmer in manufactured in Australia, not the US. Since the .308 version worked so well, I bought a second one for the .223 cases which I have a 5 gallon bucket full of sized brass ready to trim. I realize that you can change caliber by just changing the collet, but I wanted a new complete unit in .223 with the spare cutter head. Amazon simplified the entire purchase & shipping matter for a much better price.

Bought mine a couple of years back when the end mill on my WFT became dull and nobody in the US would ship one to me. The Ugly is made here in Australia and hence no shipping problems and spare parts available. I rate it better than the WFT as it's easier to adjust with a set of feeler gauges.

Any one have a part number for a Carbide end mill that will actually fit the Deraco Ugly Trimmer.
They all seem to have a 10mm shaft and I need a .390 shaft dia to fit or 25/64 ( or .003 under 10mm )
Every 25/64 End mill seems to have a .3937 or 10mm shaft dia and will not fit.

https://www.forsterproducts.com/product/power-case-trimmer/ Many years ago I bought this to bulk trim 223 cases. Set it up in my drill press and got a vast range of lengths. NOT THE FORESTER PRODUCT FAULT at all. The quill stop on my drill press was one of the round devises with the large wing nut, and as near as I can tell that was the problem. It was not consistent enough to get good results. The other type of depth stop that is like an all thread with 2 nuts to lock the depth seemed to me like it was what was needed. This is what happened to me and you may have better results, the rotary depth stops seem like they are not precise enough to work to the precision need for case OAL.
