looking to re-barrel my 700 rem. want to blueprint and do all the standard practices for accuracy. 22-250 is the caliber. twist rate is still to be decided. any thoughts on a gunsmith who are known to produce typically good results in the accuracy area. located in n.e. TN. any help here would be appreciated.

Don't overestimate the cost/benefits from "blueprinting" a receiver.
In my experience, single-pointing receiver threads oversize is like throwing $$ away for most receivers and the shooters driving them. Little if anything at all gained, and you've destroyed the value because factory barrels/prefits can no longer be used. Smith can check the receiver threads for perpendicularity to be sure, but most of the time there isn't enough error to justify cost for most shooters. If you're measuring accuracy to three decimal points it's another story- but doesn't sound like that's the case with you.
It's a simple process to true the receiver ring, which should be "included" as part of any rebarrel. Smith can check lug/abutments contact, lap-in and if needed, true the receiver abutments and lug bearing surfaces.
Always makes sense to buy a clone instead of a new 700 receiver and having it worked over- but given you already have the receiver I'd use it.
IMO nothing is more important than the barrel quality, and the chambering job by the smith. Minor errors in concentricity and perpendicularity can be easily remedied by the smith at reasonable cost. Then proper stock/chassis fitment and bedding. Get a quality blank (Bartlein
) and hire a smith that can do the quality work needed.

If I were someone sending one out for work that’s basically all I’d do. True the front receiver ring, maybe the lug abutments and leave the threads alone. Decades ago I sent a hunting rifle to Bob Brackney for some work. He suggested only the above. Practical guy.

Unless you're wanting to build a competition rifle, I'd just get ahold of the urban rifleman and order a Remage barrel with one of the cartridges he chambers for -- several of which are more practical than the 22-250.

You could do a nut barrel for $319 plus a $39 dollar nut.
Or you could buy a Kauger Vpr and a shouldered prefit for $450.
I would absolutely NOT "blueprint" a 700.

How old is the Remington action? If it is a RR prefix serial number don't worry about truing it.

Oh, it’s there! I haven’t had the chance to use it. I make Christmas presents out of Mesquite and they had to get done, along with all my other duties. Just when I was looking forward to the new year and some range time, I caught the flu. I’ve been flat on my ass for a week hacking my lungs out!
It was in the high seventies all week, then yesterday it dropped into the sixties. Headed to the 40s with night times into the 30s next week!

I have suggested to customers that if they are going to continue to use their old Remington's they should invest in a set of depth mics and learn to measure headspace. It's not hard.
