Bolt sleeving

Hi

How do you attach the sleeves to the bolt? Red loctite, Devcon, silver soldering?
I tried with marinetex,, but not happy with the results.
Any tips?

Tks and happy new year to all...

What about the marinetex did you not like?
When turning to the correct diameter, the sleeve came loose, even after carefully removing any oil present.
I thought about making a very fine internal thread (something like 48 TPI) to increase the contact area and improve grip. But I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do.

Marinetex is a filler not a fastener. Most an epoxy will work. I keep 5 minute Devcon for simple jobs like this.
The first time I did sleeving, I used Devcon and got good results. I imagined that with Marinetex I would get the same result. Maybe I did something wrong

Marinetex is for fiberglass repair. It turns out to be a pretty good bedding compound. It fills up a space with little surface adhesion. I can have it run down into and around the guard screws and will still be able to remove the screws.

Low temp silver solder is 4 - 8 times as strong as epoxy. Super easy to use. No danger of damaging heat treatment, if done properly.
That's what I've used, but there's more than one way to skin a cat.
I looked at Brownells but it is out of stock
