NTSA will be hosting 3 VFS matches in 2025. These matches will be 100 and 200 yard ag matches.
We will be drawing for benches at 7:00 and sooting begins at 9:00 am.
We will be running 2 relays and will not rotate benches between yardages.

Awards for will be given for 1st - 3rd in each class for grand agg only so bring your A game.

I am calling the HBR shooters to show up for these matches. If we can get a great turn out for HBR, I will look into holding NBRSA sanctioned matches next year.

Dates are:
3/15
5/17
8/16

Classes will be:
Hunter Class: legal 10 pound Hunter Benchrest rifles with 6x power scope
VFS Class: Legal VFS 13.5 rifles with unlimited scope power
Unlimited: All other rifles (no bigger than 308) that are legal to shoot at the range, unlimited scope power.

Cost is $25 (which includes both yardages)

NTSA LOCATION:

10948 Rector Rd, Sanger, TX 76266

From Dallas travel North on I-35 through Denton and exit Milam Rd. (exit #473). Travel East on Milam Rd. approximately 1.4 miles to Trietch Rd. and turn North on Trietch Rd.. Continue approximately 1.5 miles to Rector Rd. (T-intersection) and turn East on Rector Rd.. The club entrance is approximately .5 miles ahead on the right side, just after a sharp left-hand turn.

Wes If you can give an address or just lat long that might be useful for some folks wanting to use their navigation apps.

Start making your plans to attend these re-alived events. I really want to get HBR (Hunter Benchrest) more active in North Texas, and NTSA has allowed us to do that.

Plus, you could win one of these super limited patches that are not seen anywhere else in the world.

BUT WAIT!!!!! THAT'S NOT ALL.

You could also meet a new friend, not named Bob. We all need one of those.

Awesome! I saw these events on the range calendar and they caught my eye but I've had a hard time getting info on the specifics via email. I would love to see matches like this make a comeback here in NTX. I'm hoping to make it to them all. Looks like I'll be shooting my Kelbly/KMW build in 223 in unlimited. Are there official rules available somewhere that states rifle requirements for a "legal VFS rifle"?

Legal VFS would be found here.

But the basics are a 13.5 pound rifle with a max forearm of 3.0"
Unlimited scope power

This match at NTSA is just now resurrecting, but as long as it continues to grow, I will continue to run them. I like doing it, but more importantly, I like it when we all get together.

I will need help!!!! So I am asking for 2 volunteers to help with "STUFF" before and during the match.

I would like to help but I will be driving in from out of town so my ability to help will be dependent on when you are needing the helpers to show up

If you are shooting from a bi pod, you would be in unlimited class.

The VFS target looks like this.
20180709_143844.jpg

The 10 ring is approx 1/2" , with the 9 ring approx 1", and the 8 ring approx 1.5".
If the bullet hole touches the 10 ring anywhere, you get 10 points.

There is a small dot inside the 10 ring that is approx 1/16th on an inch. If the bullet hole touches any part of that dot, your score will be a 10X.

The bottom right target (target "S" for sighter) is for you to practice on and you can shoot that bulls eye as.many times as you want. The other bulls eyes are targets for record and shoukd only be shot once. If they are shot twice, the lowest of the scores will count.

We shoot 5 pieces of paper per yardage, for a total of 25 record targets.

A 250 is a perfect score.
A 250 - 25X is a perfect target.

Thank you very much for the info and explanations (I tend to ask a lot of questions), I'm really looking forward to this discipline

I believe your post also originally asked for an official rule book. This is a "club match" so it's not officially sanctioned. We are going to run this very simular to a registered match, however to keep costs down, we are not going to have a target crew and we are going to pull our own targets (or partner up with someone) so you don't have to walk down each time.

There will be someone designated to score all targets so you don't have to.

A VFS match is very easy to understand, but difficult to win. I will be there early and will have a Zombie Tshirt on. Look for me.

I am expecting 15-18 people for the first match. Anything more than 20 and we will be running 2 relays.
