Speedy bolt shroud

Any one try the speedy bolt shroud by Erick Cortina?

No, but I’ve used a lot of the oversized Speedy shrouds from PTG over the years. Fitted them to individual bolts and modified the slot in a similar way for the cocking piece. The Cortina makes it an easy button DIY if that’s what you are after.

Not reduce friction, but tighten up the bolt shroud to bolt to avoid the shroud from tilting up against the seat pressure and biding the firing pin and cocking piece.

It is a worthwhile investment.
They are also modified where the cocking piece is guided which is what Aaron I think was asking about.
Is the cocking piece modification intended to reduce friction?
To that yes, a lot of material is removed to minimize cocking piece drag and as Jackie mentioned the increased size of the root at the threaded junction to help keep the shroud aligned under load.Screen Shot 2024-12-27 at 7.49.32 PM.png

I do have one that I bought to put on my Pierce long action and though it is a Remington “clone” the shroud will need some modification as the shank portion that your “Oversized” arrow points to is indeed about at least half a thou or more too large to allow it to wind all the way into the bolt.
Perhaps it is perfect for a genuine Rem 700 but I will have to have my gunsmith turn it down for me to be able to use it.
It DID take the slop out of the firing pin so I know that it is going to be of use once I get it modified to allow it‘s use in my bolt.

I first bought one from ptg cause of the price difference but the smith
wanter a lot to mod it so i pulled the trigger on the cortina one
came in yesterday and it is perfect and came with a new spring and pins
fits tight in my pgt bolt with a bench rest fiering pin and fiering pin hole no slop it is a nice piece.

Was that for the Remington 700? I'm needing the Bergara centerfire version - and it says no springs for the Bergara centerfire.
