ah that is very impressive then!!! i really want to go 223 ai on my next barrel, i dont see why a comfortable 3,800 shouldn't be possible with a 26" barrel18” barrel
Care to tell what powder you was using ?If it helps, I'm getting just over 3,400 fps with an 8" twist with the 53-VMAX with no problems and excellent accuracy. I realize it's not your 7.5, but still pushing hard.
CFE223 for 3,412 fps. I also get 3,360 fps with AA2200 with good accuracy. Both loads are a little on the warm side, but show no pressure signs in my rifle. Follow book loads and work up slowly to what ever is safe in yours.Care to tell what powder you was using ?

I have a 26", 1:7.7 Krieger on an AR Match Rifle ("space gun"). I tried shooting the 53gr V-max and only about 30% made it to the target, the rest went "poof" about 30 yds down range.Would be shooting from a .223 wylde bolt rifle. Is a 7.5 twist too fast for this bullet?
so far in my 8 twist at 3,300 they are staying together fineI have a 26", 1:7.7 Krieger on an AR Match Rifle ("space gun"). I tried shooting the 53gr V-max and only about 30% made it to the target, the rest went "poof" about 30 yds down range.
I talked to Hornaday about the problem. According to them, 1st - I was likely driving them to hard (spinning them too fast) and 2nd - the "cut-rifled" barrel could also be contributing to the jacket failure, because of how sharp the lands are.so far I’m my 8 twist at 3,300 they are staying together fine
I'm my prairie dog rifle I was shooting them at 3100 with the 7.5 twist and they were very accurate. And stayed together.I have a 26", 1:7.7 Krieger on an AR Match Rifle ("space gun").
