Heavy / ELR style bipod

I just spoke to David and he said the Tubb bipod is more appropriate for a "hard hold" style like Nate shoots. Some of the other "free recoil" techniques might be better suited for the larger bipods that were recommended above. That is what he said...
This makes me wonder. Is a hard hold better than free recoil for long range..
..

I use a GRS, from Norway, on my FPR (like FTR but a magazine and folding bipod only) rifle. It is a spigot mount, and long enough for under or over the barrel mounting. All steel etc The stock in the picture is the GRS Warg, which I have on my 6BR with a Barnard SMS action.

That’s one I’d like to try

Just shot my Accu-Tac fp with the Ski feet.
Wow! It's amazing how well it tracks. 1650 yards with a 6.5 Walley. I may get a set for my WB-5.

i'd maybe be open to selling my hd-50 with ski feet/qd attach if you want to save a few $ off of new. i dumped my ELR rig and am looking for something more phoenix-esque

I have had issues with the Accutac bipods. I have 2 of the wide body 4”. The torque of my rifles have caused the right leg to jump out of the slot and collapse. Happened twice during matches with my 6.5X47. Got with Accutac and got absolutely zero help. They did send 2 springs that were obviously bought at the hardware store. There was no way to use either spring! Think I have it fixed by putting a 2nd spring inside the original spring but now it takes both hands to adjust. I love the way they track but CS is non existent.

That's interesting with such a small cal. I don't get the idea behind spring retract. With the Harris I just hold the gun at the approx height I want, press the button and the leg shoots out until it hits something. Rest it on that leg and repete on the other side.

I still haven't pullet the trigger on this. Really debating between the WB5 and the HD50. I haven't had either in my hands but on paper the WB5 still has a pretty wide stance, virtually the same heights BUT it has the versatility of 45deg leg positions forward and rear. The gun is together and weighs about 25lbs without all the weights. Is the WB5 solid and high tolerance like the HD 50 And does it accept the ski feet etc?

I have ski feet on 1 and the original rubber on 1. Both seem to track the same. On concrete the rubber wears fairly rapid.

To me the big negative is the lack of a 45 deg option on the HD50/LP50. That said for pure ELR use you may never need to go that low. Honestly, I like the 45 deg option, not because I want to go extra low, but because it allows me to run a taller bipod that's more flexible but still allows a lower height with the legs 45 deg forward.

I like the Fortmeier bipod. It has wide ski feet that I place on a carpeted board for F-class. I purchased it from Solid Solutions Design in the Netherlands. You can mount it under the forend or over the bore with a forend bridge.
