6mm Donaldson Short

Hello,

Can anybody tell me about this cartridge? I bought a lot of reamers and this reamer was in the pile. I am trying to find out if it is the same as the 6mm Donaldson Wasp, Or if it's a variation that's different, Thanks to anyone who has some information on this, Mark

There were 2 different 219 Donaldson Wasp cartridges back in the 1950’s. One is slightly shorter and a shorter neck with a slightly decreased powder capacity which is the one I have. This target was shot at 201 yards testing seating depths. These were all 5 shot groups. The small group underneath the single bullet hole (Point of Aim) with a crosshair drawn over it was 0.154” at 201 yds. The wasp cartridges are really known for GREAT accuracy

Thanks guys, Sorry for the slow reply.

So I have a 6mm 30-30 35 degree reamer and this 6mm donaldson short. I would like to put something together using one of them. But I can't really find anything on the 6mm donaldson short.

I have read about Donaldson, He was a pioneer for sure.

Likely the “short” version is actually the original Wasp which is necked up to 6mm. Donaldson’s design had a case length of 1.75”. At some point someone (rumor says Hornady) mis-measured and started the Wasp of 1.813” case length. That goof up version sorta became the standard.

That's pretty funny, Thanks.
