Hazmat shippers - price increase

Not always true but I can drive down and back to Bruno's when I want to stock up on sale items for about $24.00 rd trip. But I also have a friend that drives right by Bruno's every day who will bring things up to the shop for me occasionally.

I think I want to ship 3 NIB Remington 20-rd ammo boxes to my son who lives out of state. I can't find any info on the UPS website on the ACTUAL FEES for a private party interstate shipment. Plain old everyday Remington green and yellow 6.5 ammo. Anyone ??

Post office. Ammo doesn't go hazmat. It has a special label, but it's not a hazmat item. Shouldn't be a lot more than any other package you ship.

As an aside, primers are hazmat. Put those primers in otherwise empty brass, and they magically become non-hazmat. I guess it's the separation that defines that - just a guess though.

That’s probably is when the sales will happen. I have waited before and think some good sales would be around Christmas time, and that never pans out.

I was shopping for SB6.5 and checked several sites for 8lb jugs.
Someone pointed out YOU were cheaper for 8 1lb jugs.
AFTER I had already ordered from another vendor

So, I went to the site to check but did not enter an address.
With no tax and your sale price I could have SAVED.
If the 8lb jugs had been in stock, saved even MORE.
You are now on my 'Search" list.

We pay $38.25 for every haz-mat shipment that we ship through UPS to customers like you who order from us and we only charge you $19.95 to compete with everyone else. We automatically lose $18.30.
This isn't about our receiving large shipments from manufacturers via tractor trailer freight.

Pallets likely go commercial lift gate (or similar) delivery; can't really equate shipping charges with UPS or FedEx.

Has any other hazmat shippers seen the updated base hazmat fee from ups ?

I just had my account updated by ups via worldship and hazmat fee base is increased to $51.00 instead of $33 and will go up again to $54 in December.

Further investigation seems to suggest this will go nationwide in December…This is gonna hurt. Get ready for $100 shipping costs with insurance and signature if you’re several zones away from your powder shop

So, if the haz mat fee goes to $51, are large shippers really charged that $51 or a reduced amount? Perhaps sellers that pay a lower hazmat price can pass that along to the poor consumer?

If you read back through this thread, Amy Bruno from Bruno's shooter supply already mentioned that they discount the hazmat rate below their cost to try and help buyers.
