Tikka Problem??

Yesterday I picked up a new T3Lite Compact in .223. Took it home, cleaned it and looked inside with the borescope. The bore for a factory rifle looks wonderful. However, the lead looks like it was done with a chisel and hammer. Ugliest thing I ever saw. I took a fired case from another rifle, full lenth reized it and inserted it. Bolt would not close, took it out with a rod. Took a new Lapua case and inserted it. Bolt closed with some effort. I extracted the case and noticed the neck at the end was bent. Looked at the first case I tried, bent even worse. Took another another new Lapua case ran it through the sizer and tried, same result. I will call Beretta tomorrow and learn how they will handle this. Not a journey I was looking forward too.

Wow! That's disappointing to say the least. I own several Tikka's, and they are ALL top performers and function perfectly. Sad - seems like you can't count on anything anymore.

Let us know how you make out.

From what I’ve heard they’ll eventually replace the barrel. But it’s a black hole.

Might be worth tracking down a .223 go gauge because if that doesn’t fit they can’t possibly argue anything.

IMO,. The Cheap and QUICKEST Fix, would Be to have, a GOOD Competent, Gunsmith,. SLOWLY, "Hand Ream" your .223 rem. Tikka, Chamber and,.. Polish Throat,.. IF, Necessary. ( About, a 1/2 Hours,. "Work" ! )
Rare mishap, W/ Tikka's, as MOST, Run,.. Flawlessly.

Sorry to see that. I’ve been on this forum for more than ten years and only read about one other guy that had a problem with a Tikka. It’s a rare thing. I hope Berretta gets it sorted out.

From what I've heard about Beretta customer service, you might be better off doing as Idaho lefty suggests unless you're ok waiting a really long time to have Beretta/Tikka fix the issue

Anyone and everyone can produce a bad barrel, that desc of the issue is a weird one for sure. Maybe thay had a PO'd employee that day. That's mass production for you.

Are you sure the pieces of brass you tried don't have long necks ? What is the measurement of those cases ? Of course you may be correct, in that the lead area is just fouled up.

Best of luck with Beretta USA customer service.
Exactly, you're far better off going back to the vendor. In fact last time I looked, they changed the process and contacting your authorized reseller was your first step.

I had an issue recently with a new rifle, contacted the seller/vendor and they worked with their distributor to resolve the issue.

I contacted the seller who gat me a number for the importer who I will call first. The throat is not the issue but the lead might be. The 9 oclock position on the lead ramp in particular. First thing I did was check case length on the first case, its fine as are the 2 new Lapua. I also was given the numb for an authorized Tikka repair smith in Missouri. I think its called Midwest Gunsmithing, anyone familiar with them?

I’ve bought a bunch of parts from them. A+ on all my transactions.

I love Tiikkas but, over the years, I have heard of a few with a pronlem.

I'm pretty sure Tikka test fires the rifles.

Please keep us posted on what you find out or have to do.

Agree. I would try mightily to find a competent smith so that I wouldn’t need to send the gun .
