Ruger #1 Trigger Upgrade

The trigger on my Ruger #1 pulls much heavier than I'm use to (+5lb). My internet search turned up only 2 replacement trigger options: Jard($150) or Moyers($50). Per the users, each have their own set of caveats. Are these the only options available in 2024? Some threads lament how good the old 3-screw trigger was(?) My rifle has 2 set screws in the trigger. Which screw does what to what? I prefer a 2.5lb trigger on my rifles.

I've installed quite a few of the Jard triggers and have been happy with them. They're adjustable for pre travel, over travel, and weight. The old 3 screws had the same adjustments but more moving parts, and I don't think they feel as crisp.

On your 2 screw trigger, the top screw is overtravel, the bottom screw is weight.

That being said, it will never feel like a bolt gun trigger.

The trigger on the #1B that I bought from @Adam in WI is pretty decent.
For all of my Ruger 77 MKIIs, I put a set of Wolfe Springs in.
That and some honing made those much nicer!
And only cost $12.

I've got a Kepplinger set trigger in a #1. Gunsmith installed 20 years ago. I took him instructions and he got the unset down to 1 lb and set it's 8 oz.

I have one in my parts box…can you reverse engineer?
Some enterprising soul out there could/should. My recollection is that they were a decent trigger for the No1 - and probably all that was available at the time (?). I ordered a Canjar for a bolt gun, at one point. It never arrived. I ended up buying a Shilen, which I still own - on my FTR Barnard "S", which, weather permitting, I will be shooting later today.

Did my own Kepplinger single set trigger install on my #1. Got mine down to 16 oz unset and 9 oz set. Just love single set triggers.
