Need mid-priced binoculars.

Well, my old (bought around 2004) Leupold 9x25 has finally bit the big one. They don't make them like they used to. LOL. So, I am in the market for a new set and looking to keep it under $1000. What are you using? I was looking at Leica 10x42 Trinovids on sale right now for $799. They are pretty nice. I am hoping some member owning the Trinovids responds. I will send my old ones to Leupold and see what they say.

Minox (german made ones) are outstanding and can be found used for good deals as the name isn't well known.

I have three pairs of binos here I don't need. I have a set of Swarovski 10x40s I got from Butch I'll pass on. Since I got the Leica RF binos I am not using them. PM me.

I have Leica Trinovid 10 x 50 BA that I would let go for $900 shipped. They are the best by far I've ever looked thru. If you would like pics, let me know.

If you really want the best opinions on binos, check out some birdwatching forums. No group is more serious about binos and spotting scopes than they are. There are excellent in depth reviews on everything from $150 on up to ludicrous.

OP Probably purchased already. I bought a set of tract 8x42s for hunting this year. All my hunting is under 400 yards so 8x is all I need and in some spots I hunt anything over 8x is a counter productive. I came from a set of 8x vortex and it's an amazing upgrade for under $700 bucks. No glass I own has been this good.

I saw it was an old post but, I figured anyone interested could use the info about birdwatching forum reviews.

I got two set of Minox about 15 years ago from NYCameraLand. I can't find Minox any more to purchase. Do you have a US vendor? I got my son Leupold BX-2 Apline last year. Very similar optical clarity to the Minox, but the Minox are a bit brighter. Both pair are 10x42.

I run the Steiner HX15x56 and I love them. You can pick them up for around $700. My Wife has the Swaro 15x56s and I think the Steiners are just as good and even better in low light than hers. They make the HX in 8 and 10 power as well I believe.
