Berger's most accurate 22 bullet in a 22 PPC at 100 yards?

Prove it.

I'm saying that bullet will shoot just as small at 100 and better at 200. B
Tackdrivers 1 thru 4 and virtually every short range br match ever. If heavies were better, we'd be using them and they'd be winning. This subject is actually in my wheelhouse and one I've tested a lot. Now, if the wind is howling and flags are not allowed, maybe...with some luck. The further out and worse the wind is, the more likely the heavies are to rise up but that's not typical nor the case when referring to accuracy.

I shot my only 100 yard screamer with the 40gr varmint bullet.(.099) with a .075 short ppc with a 14tw. I also messed around with the 73 in a 8 twist full length 22ppc and couldn’t get out of the .3’s.

I always love these statements...

I don't think anyone is shooting 22 PPC with 52 grain bullets in any serious competitions. Which is all I was referring too. Hey maybe I am wrong, but I doubt it. I would put a 22 PPC with the 80.5 head to head with a 52, if everyone had to shoot a 22 PPC.

Yes, you'd be wrong again. I could give numerous examples but I've made my point. No need to argue what is available info if you search a bit.

Honestly, I have no proof. Just lots of targets from customers. You can see lots of them in my Barrel Reviews in the commercial classified. I should have never said anything.

Everything has already been invented... Carry on.
I seldom use this argument because I test everything for myself but just imagine how many times what you proposed has been tried already. I've witnessed it several times, myself and can't recall a single instance where heavy for caliber bullets won or even were close, in a Sr br match. It's been tried a lot, though. I am in about a 4cyear long test of trying to optimize twist, bc, velocity, accuracy and every aspect. I can say that a 6mm 12 twist seems to give up nothing to the slower 13.3-14s and I've won national level matches with both 68 and 80 class bullets. After that, things do get more sketchy. The mid weights are close but not quite there and the heavies have never been up to Sr br levels of being competitive,..regardless of twist. It's simply harder to make pure accuracy as the projectile gets longer. The last 4 years have been about finding that balance point..for lack of a better way to put it.

Times flies. It's been at least 5 years now.

Once again, I was talking about 22 ppc.

Then look up results. Show me any, just one...example of 80.5s or whatever heavy you wanna choose won a Sr br match. I'll wait Brad. Just one out of the last 50 years shouldn't be a problem if what you say is true. You're starting to back up so just say so. That's the smart move here. There's no shame in being wrong until you keep digger a deeper hole. Don't send me on YOUR wild goose chase. It doesn't exist, that I'm aware of. Maybe, just maybe..you'll find once in the last 50 years but, I'm waiting for once.

I said,

"I would put a 22 PPC with the 80.5 head to head with a 52, if everyone had to shoot a 22 PPC."

That is an opinion my man. And total speculation, I might add. Good grief.

You're heading in the right direction. No hard feelings I hope but ya gotta back things up when you ask for proof..get it and you continue to dig in deeper, Brad.

Boys, really...

The OP asked what bullet in a 22 PPC, from Berger.

I think the second response or so hit it. Berger 52 gr FB target.

Of course any 50-53 grain custom is worth a serious look too

I've had great success with the 73's out of an 8 twist Tikka superlite.

Go too any UBR Score Match any month or some of the Kyles Ford 300 yard group matches ive seen in the past and the 22 PPC was hard on every one shooting 53 and 57 gr Hillbilly Bullets!!

Ive seen some fine targets shot at 100, 200, and some groups in the .2s and .1s at 300 yards with the 52-57 grain bullets!

Larry makes a great bullet...love him and his bullets. Are you sure he makes a 57? I know Danny does and that he bought a set of dies from Larry...fwiw. I'm in good shape right now but will definitely try Larry's too, if he does. I just sent a few of Danny's down range. Didn't really have time but gotta come up with a load for the Nats for my new to me 22 ARC. It shot great with that bullet in pretty bad wind. The last couple of groups were low to mid ones and both were very solid zeros until the last shot kept them from being just a bullet hole! Easy to do in practice though! Lol! That was fire forming too..fwiw. I could get a little more speed but that load is around 3700 fps, too. Smoking! That was a pretty full case of n135. I'll do more testing as time allows and while getting the brass formed but so far, I've only tried two loads and both shot mid ones but this one seems to be the one..or very close. I was the cause of them both opening up.

Yes Larry made 57gr Hillbilly boattails before Danny ever did!

Danny did buy the dies from Larry
