Ballistic Apps????

I'm going to throw my hat in for GeoBallistics. Pretty comprehensive bullet library and has a built-in mapping feature to measure out distances and mark multiple targets. They make a wind meter ($40 & $80 depending on features you want) that has been very accurate for me.

I like Geoballistics (ballisticsARC) as well. It uses the same jbm library many do so the results will be the same but also allows you to also use satellite info for finding ranges and building range cards.

Back from the grave……..

I asked this years ago and settled on Shooter for my use.

Now years later I want to get back into long range shooting with my son and am wondering what currently is the best ballistic app, also what Is the easiest to use for a beginner ( my Son )??????

Unfortunately my favorite, Strelok, is no longer available due to trade restrictions with Russia. I still have a functional copy on an Ipad but has not been updated in a few years. I’m also interested in current apps.

I started using Chairgun Elite when my Strelok crashed. It has reticle specific holdovers i was looking for with my Leupold Varmint and Boone and Crockett reticles. Somebody on here recommended it.

Strelok can be side loaded if you have the APK, an Android phone and the know how. I still use mine but if I needed a ballistic app for competition or something other than hunting, I probably would start looking at newer apps.

Thanks. I don't use it often so the copy on my Ipad is fine. When I bought a new Iphone, I was unable to load the app on it. No worries though. I think it is one of the most user friendly and intuitive apps out there. The numbers are usually spot on with, or really close to, my observations.

Interesting...when I switched from my old Samsung phone to my new one, Strelok cross-loaded complete with all my previously entered data for every one of my rifles. Of course I don't get new updates for new bullets or crosshair designs, but I have long since settled on my best ideal bullets and all my scopes are in the data base.

Of what’s available right now Applied Ballistics Mobile has my vote.

Fairly easy user interface, has the ability to true BC/velocity and there is a lot of science backing it up.

Supposedly there is a very big update coming but they’ve been threatening to do it for month so I’m not holding my breath.

Geoballsistics is another one that seems fairly accurate but lacks the ability to true, at least in the version I have.

StrelokPro is still king to me, unfortunately its unavailable now.

This happened about 7 mos back when I upgraded phones. That app wouldn't load and is no longer listed in the Apple app store. Darn shame.

Can still be purchased thru Samsung Store. Only for Samsung. & Android. Did it earlier this year, have it on cell phone , & tablet.

I just need to go out & use it.

AAAH...I think I remember someone saying it wouldn't cross-load on Apple devices about that time frame. Just for fun I looked at Hornady's 4DOF. Can't make heads or tails out of it and gave up. Bullet choices, even for Hornady products, are incomplete. Life is too short for such nonsense. Might be fine for some, but I just want quick and easy...like my Strelok!

View attachment 1576878It seems fairly easy to me. You can scroll with your finger; yardage, wind direction, plus wind speed.
Yeah...but I can't find any of the Hornady bullets I care to use in the 'library'...and in a Hornady app! No sign of any .17-caliber bullets at all, no .224" 53-grain VMAX (or any .224" bullet lighter than 53-grains), no 75-grain 6mm VMAX (or any bullet lighter than 80 grains) - pretty useless for me. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't have the patience to find what seems to be hidden...or not even there.

No Sir, not much good if it doesn’t fit what you’re shooting. I think it says something about using the BC calculator if a certain bullet is not listed.

Revic is probably the best free ballistics app I have ever used. From the Gunwerks guys. Has all the bells and whistles, even has ballistic curve truing. Only been using it for about a week or so but I have to say I am impressed.

I've had Strelok on my phone and on a table. I have never been a computer person and I can get to a page in Strelok and I get stuck and can't figure out how to move forward. I had no idea Lapua had a ballistic app, one of the first things I saw while reading their intro to the app was that it was intuitive. That says to me that it is set up so noncomputer geeks can figure it out. Lets hope so. What i do like about Strelok is the feature that shows how the shot will look in your reticle. i hope the Lapua app has that feature. I will try it in my phone first and see how it goes!!
