Return policies on brass?

OK, I screwed up. Wanted some spare Norma brand brass for my 30BR HBR rifle so I ordered some. Turns out I actually ordered 6mm PPC brass (not 6mm BR brass). Opened the shipping box, immediately realized an issue and checked on line to confirm who made the error; it was me.

Now I am being told its industry standard to not accept returns of brass as the can't control storage, etc. Its in its original unopened package, was received about 36 hours ago, etc. Still I get a pitch about they must control quality of their products.

Is this really a standard practice? I did a quick browse of a half-dozen sites I typically use and they seem to accept brass returns. I understand hazmat shipping, customer needing to pay shipping costs, etc. But brass?

Am I wrong? Just asking before I provide the firm the bad advertising I think they have earned.

Just curious as to why you would provide bad advertising when you admit the mistake was solely yours?
I can't find that it is really an industry standard to not accept returns on brass (hence the question) nor is this what I consider high-quality customer service. YMMV.

I realize this is just one company and it is for their remanufactured brass but at a 15% restock fee a person would be better off selling it themselves.

I don’t think there is an industry standard. Some companies are small mom and pop suppliers and then there’s Midway and Brownells. I would expect different policies from both.
I bet if you put out in the classifieds it will sell fast.

No seller is mandated to accept returned items. That's why you didn't find a "standard." There may be "common practices" but not a requirement. People have gotten used to Amazon's next day delivery and free returns. They demand the same from other vendors, so much so that vendors might put "no returns" in their sales information.

If you're not happy with their customer service, find another supplier. It was your mistake, not theirs.

I don't see where the OP named a supplier...so, no real harm done, no bad review left. Maybe I am not reading well enough?

I see nothing here but an OP asking if this is indeed an industry standard. No harm in asking. My bet? He will post it here and it will be snatched up fast and he will be out shipping cost.

Moving along, not much to see here.

Ok, I see where he thought he might leave bad review. I missed that. My bad. Maybe OP will be dissuaded from leaving a bad review and...just sell it here.

I know of some guys using Norma 6PPC brass. I might be one...if I were not spending my $$ on a car restoration right now. But hey, someone will buy it.

One supplier I use will take UNOPENED Lapua back but if it's opened the will not. I bought some 22 Russian and decided I didn't want to do the work to make 6 PPC. I had opened the box so no return. I ended up getting my money back and sold it to a guy in Hawaii.

I'd just sell what I had if I were the OP. Things happen.

Most brass dealers will not accept returned brass, so you best option if to sell it in Classified and order the proper brass you wanted. 6PPC usually will sell very well.

So you gave up on the PPC?

I would think that if you wanted to know what "industry standard return policy" was you would call other brass manufacture's and ask what their policy was, instead of asking us.
