My New AutoTrickler Powder Throw Cup

Been experimenting with these cups a little bc I have been very unsatisfied with the 'shot glass' cups supplied with the AT. I have tried to wait for the Ingenuity Precision cup but they won't be available until the whole rig is available. These cups seem to work very well. I have only used them for 75 cases so far but I have had "0", bupkis, nada splash yet. They are super easy to tune to get them the same weight. I just snip the end of the handle off of the heavy one with household scissors until they weigh the same and Bob's yer uncle...

Messing with them a little more I noticed a small raised 'bubble' at the bottom in the center of the cups that disperses the energy of the hopper dump laterally if you place the cups at the very center. I also use a custom 'shim' to raise the cups closer to the initial dump. I'll attempt to post a vid soon (I'm getting ready for a match tomorrow).

Ordered a set, they arrived today.

I’ve been using long handle stainless measuring cups for about 1 year now as most plastic things tend to have a static charge - which these did. I noticed that when inserting the cup into the scale (without touching the pan) the numbers were jumping around (usually a negative display reading) and when set on the pan, the weight would change if I set it in different places!

Tested my stainless measuring cups - same weight reading whether it was centered or on the very edges of the pan.

Rubbing dryer sheets on the plastic (poly) cups didn’t work. I have an air ionizer which removes static electricity, so I turned it on, held these cups in front of it for a few seconds and tried again - it worked, static free!! Cups weighed the same no matter their position on the pan and if I held them off of the pan, the display always read 0.000!!

In summary, be aware of static electricity, how to test for it, and be sure to remove it!

I didn’t have time to throw charges, will be interesting to see if they stay static free or build up static from the powder???

Good luck!!

I received mine also. Thanks for the tip on the static electricity. I'm moving so it will be a couple of weeks before I can mess with them.

For plastic stuff, I dust it with powdered graphite, and use a chip brush to get rid of the excess. Seems to work pretty well (although it turns light colored material a splotchy gray.)

Hmm, I haven’t had that problem. Mine weighed the same (after I tuned them) from the get-go. Maybe it’s your AC? Could be dry weather, which we get a lot of in SoCal. Keep us updated.

Thank you for this.
I love these cups! Way easier to handle. The long handle is easier to grab.

I sprayed anti static spray on the bottom .
Plus I use Tubbs Dust, that dissipates static too.

Update :
Installed precision powder cup elevator to scale platform with symmetrically adhsed synthetic strips. Reused vendor supplied cup positioner. Performance improvement approx. 51.3975%.IMG_8512.jpegIMG_8513.jpeg

Going on 4 months now and no ‘hoppers’. That is, no escapees from the powder cups. No static problems whatsoever. Anybody having static problems with them? I use N-555 and H4831sc.

I ordered a clear top from area 419 a while back and when I placed it on the balance the display went Ape Shit, I eventually figured out that lens wipes for my glasses eliminated the static.

I just ordered a 2nd cup when I ordered my Autotrickler. I ended up doing a little light sanding of thr plastic handles in order to make each cup wiegh identical to the other. Works just fine.

Damn…I’ll hunt around for another vendor.

I have never had a problem with the oem shot glass, and it measures a load as fast as I can seat a bullet. I am mystified why a different cup and an extra one are needed. Please explain.

In my case, when I drop 70 to 95gr I pick up the charged cup then drop the other cup on the scale immediately. By the time I pour one load in the case the other cup is almost done.
