optimal barrel length

Mine is 29" not sure why that is what savage decided to go with but it's working well for me so far.

I would however like to know if all things being equal if the shorter barrels are more accurate? I would assume a shorter barrel of the same profile would have more accuracy potential compared to its longer brother?

yes i guess that’s the question getting more accuracy with shorter barrel vs long barrel getting that little more velocity say exsample 6BR vs other 6Br variants talking longer distances.

Iv always wondered if cutting 3 or 4 inches of of a 26 or 28 inch barrel would make a difference you could see at 100 yards considering you get the load back in tune.
If you shoot lots of .2 inch groups, with a 26 inch barrel what' would be the chances you could shoot lots of zeros with a 22 inch barrel?

I would like to put together a full bull 18-20" 6br for 100-300 yards just to see. If you look at those "machine guns" the machinists put together, they have huge diameter short barrels.

My barrel lengths listed here in an earlier post, from 16" to 29" ALL have the same accuracy potential from 200 to 600 yards, and again from 600 to 1,000 yards, and all 6mm B-R barrels will shoot well under 2" @ 600 yards, regardless of barrel length. I will also point out that this is from "hunting" guns, not B-R, Match or Competition guns.
