Carbon ring questions....

I have been reading what i can about the carbon ring that can occur in rifles. I don't own a borescope (yet) to check for this. Does anyone have a diagram of where this can occur in the bore? What would be a good cleaning regime specifically for keeping the ring away. I clean my rifles regularly, but haven't optimized my cleaning to address a possible carbon ring.

Thanks,
Don
Knew nothing about a carbon ring before read joining this forum. Been working on cleaning one up on my old 243 AI prairie dog gun. Here's a picture taken with a $30 + bore scope that plugs into my cell phone. Impressed with it. Any thoughts on my barrel condition? With a proper patch you can feel it right at the end of the chamber right where the rifling starts. Best thing for a carbon ring is to not let it happen in the first place- a bronze brush helps here. To get it out use iosso or jb on a properly fit patch and short stroke it
I don't get carbon rings at the end of my chamber [probably because I clean the chamber with a chamber brush after each range session].
But, my key point is the ring that forms at the very beginning of the throat - just before the rifling starts.

I only use Wipe Out with Accelorator.
No brush. I clean after each use which can be from 30 -60 rds. I use a bore guide and repeat the cleaning with wet then dry patches as many times as necessary until I get clean patches.

Then I use a .45cal brush with a patch to clean chamber. After that, I use a 6mm brush (6 dasher) with patch to focus on the throat & first 6" of rifling.

My 223 F Class rifle has 1500rds on it.
No carbon ring ever. That's why my 6 Dasher is getting the same cleaning routine.
