Advice needed on scope to look at

Hey guys and gals.

Ive started a scope fund as I'm looking for a more powerful and clearer scope than my 6-24 pst. If I have to save 3k to get what I want so be it. It's going on my 6br that I use for everything from shooting 100 to 1000 yards to shooting squirrels and chucks. I even shot a deer with it a few years back. I want to at least be able to see the squirrel that ill probably miss at 800 yards lol. Oh and I shoot moa.

Thanks everyone in advance.

Have a look at the Sightron range. I love my Slll 10-50, although it does get darker at the top end - but you spend at lot more for brightness at 50x. If you have a the cash, the S8 is super. Another place to look is the Trijicon TenMile scopes. They have been around a while, so discounts could be on the cards. From there - Nightforce, IOR, Delta and the Vortex Golden Eagle. Best of luck.

I would make sure that when I looked at the potential scope specs to pay attention to the weight. Some of the higher-end high-power variables can get pretty heavy. If your gun will be used for deer hunting as well, that might be a consideration........There are lots of good options to choose from if price isn't an issue.

Regards
Rick

The use you plan and your hunting style should determine the power of the scope.

For example, I was using a Nightforce NXS 8-32 power on my 6BR for prairie dogs, and loved the view at 32 power. If that was good, wouldn't a 42 power be even better?
I bought a NXS 12-42 power for my next p dog hunting trip. The 42 power is "even better", BUT....... The 12 power had too small field of view when I was trying to find the dogs ! I could find the dogs in my binoculars, but not find them easily when at 12 power. It was useless for my purposes. I got rid of it, and went back to the 8-32 power which fit my needs. I use the NP2DD reticle , which is moa.

I suggest you take your 6-24 and determine the maximum power that you might want at the minimum setting on a new scope. You could test 6, 8 , 10 , 12, and 15 power and see if you can quickly find that squirrel in a tree, a chuck in a crop field, or a deer in thick brush.

for my eyes a NF benchrest 12x42 is hard to beat for the value.

Since you said MOA

This is a lot of glass for the money

It's heavy though. So I'm not sure if that's a consideration or not, but I don't think anything comes close to the value EO is offering
That looks like a nice scope. I didn't even know it existed!

Guys are suggesting some very high power scopes. Beware, high power scopes really limit view at 100 yards.
not if u turn down the power, 5x50x56 has a giant fov on 5x or 20x but your right on str power scopes gotta line the rifle up then look I see what your saying yes, I use stickly variable power scopes got tired of lining up then lookin lookin and then there it is after 5 minutes

Kris,
Since this will be a major investment, find a way to look through any and all of the scopes you are considering. Sightron has some very nice offerings in their top end lines along with a great warranty. Personally I would probably start by listening all the options you want, and then thin the herd based on looking through each if at all possible. Optical clarity to my eyes trumps everything to my way of thinking. Good luck.
