I took a fall a couple of days ago and put a small tear in my rotator cuff. I'm right handed and of course tore the right shoulder, definitely not shooting this week ends match and any others are questionable as of now.
Unless things improve a little, I will not even be able to drive the 17 miles to go watch and say hello to everyone, driving hurts like hell, actually everything hurts right now.
Hopefully it will be better for the Sept. or Oct. matches.

It's not going to improve, those things just will not heal. Taking something like Aleve or Motrin might help deal with the pain though. Another possibility might be a Cortizone shot into the muscle. All these things do though is delay the inevitable, surgery.

Just messed mine up really good too breaking a heavy fishing line that was hung in the rocks. Can't even find a position to sleep right now. If you do try shooting again I would wait until it's healed and feeling normal again. Putting thumb pressure on the stock will dampen the kick until you feel confidant again.

If completely torn they will never heal without surgery. I had both MRIed about 2 years ago and the surgeon said both had tears and that it took place so long ago that the mussels had atrophied till they didn't exist anymore and could not be repaired only replaced. If you even think they could be torn, see a surgeon soon.

I highly suggest people with the O.P's problem and other ones like arthritis consider stem cell injections.
I've torn my rotator cuff 3 times on my left shoulder once completely, both bicep tendons had to be moved and reattached 3 surgeries and once on my right one both degenerative and arthritis. For 3 years my wife and I have researched stem cell and checked into the costs and decided in March I was going to Mexico to have it done and did, would do it again in a heart beat.
Mexico is way ahead of the U.S in stem cell injection in how and the kind they do, it takes alot to impress my wife with western Dr but the Mexican Dr impressed her the care was impressive.
After 3 months I have big improvements, 100% no but I was close to a replacement on my left and know 80% of the pain is gone.
The costs in Mexico are about 1/3 of the U.S also

I have a complete tear off with retraction and 5 surgeons said it could not be repaired and if they did attempt it that it would torn again within six months. Within six months I can raise my arm above my head and have no pain. I will never have full strength in it again, but it is usable.

I had a tear again, went to my ortho Dr in Sept he told me it was not worth going in again they would fix it when they replaced my shoulder, there's other options.
My only regret is not doing the stem cell injections sooner.

It is already starting to feel a little better. Last night was the first nights sleep all week, even if I did wake up at 3:45 it is still better than none.
I'm missing the match but better safe than sorry, and even though it is only a 20 minute drive shoulder is a little too sore to drive over today.

Have you seen a Dr about physical therapy? It might help recovery time.
It's been very good for a couple conditions I have.

It will be a slow process healing and feeling better with that Rotator cuff injury. But you will do it, just follow the therapy sessions 101 %. Hope all goes well and you are back up and running well, in time.

Both of my shoulders are toast, the left from years swinging a hammer, the right worse than the left from an injury playing flag football. 25+ years later finally went to an ortho for the right side when range of motion was so limited that I couldn't do much of anything. He said I was a candidate for surgery and prescribed PT before to break up scar tissue, etc., saying that may provide enough relief to avoid the knife. It wasn't easy, but did restore most of my motion and strength. That was 10 years ago, and while I still have issues at times I'm able to keep on going. I'm a lefty, so a bum right shoulder is not a huge inconvenience.

Mine is getting better daily did this last Tuesday , still sore as he'll its way outside the shoulder and down my side because I hung on to a. 120# line an drove my boat out of danger of the rocks. My rotor was torn 15 years ago and I still think I'm a tough guy. I'm aching deep so I better not do that again....

Mike I've spent the last month sleeping in my recliner kinda half upright, it was the only way I could get any rest.
Both shoulders were injured over a year ago and I was recovering well, then I got a lil overzealous with my weed whacker flaring Both back up.

You may be feeling better because the inflammation has lessened somewhat. I've had 2 surgeries on my left shoulder. It was so bad in the '80's I had to learn to shoot a rifle right handed. Do what you can to maintain your range of motion, even if it hurts like hell. Once you lose it, it's worse regaining that motion. Been there. Your body will tell you when it is time for surgery. When that time comes just do it but you'll know when it is time.

I spoke too soon.
Yesterday started off good, but then for some unknown reason it felt like I was hit on the point of my shoulder with a ball peen hammer, and it hasn't stopped yet. Again little to no sleep, I can't sleep in a recliner because of past back surgeries with fusions.
I have more movement in my arm but it is still painful, and I can't find a position to make it comfortable.
I bought a shoulder brace and will try it today, hopefully it will help. Things around the house are starting to pile up (yard work) and no grand kids to help and no younger kids around to hire to do it so I'll wait a few days before I attempt to do anything, hopefully by then it will feel better.

Don't screw around with this. Get to an Ortho Dr and get the shoulder imaged. On shoulder injuries, an MRI Arthrogram can often show subtle labral tears that even the best 3T MRI non-arthrogram imaging can miss.

@L.Sherm…. If you don’t mind posting? Can you provide more details of doctor in Mexico, name/location? I’ve had a small tear in my left shoulder for 27yrs. The pain is bearable because my work doesn’t require strenuous activity but it’s has limited what I can do for years but not bad enough for surgery. Doctors tell me now just to wait on shoulder replacement because it’s coming.

If they can do the surgery orthoscopically, rotator cuff surgery ain't the bear it use to be. Get it fixed now before you tear it worse. You can be shooting again in a few months.

It was a Dr. in little small town north of Merida he has a clinic also in Merida.
Theres 2 big reasons why I went to him and Mexico. First is in Mexico they take stem cells from the placenta and cord blood so you get ones from just like when you were first born there vibrant and active and as you age your own stem cells die and are not as active. #2 He injects the the injured area by using ultra sound to pin point the injured area which some Dr's don't. Look him up His name is Dr Esparza I believe its Dr Adrian Esparza, could be Esparsa. Do some research he will do a zoom with you like he did with my wife and I. He likes you to be there for atleast 7-10 because you have P.T also.
I have no affiliatation whats so ever just my experience and research after battling these shoulders for the last 5 years and my back.
I can tell you there were alot of American and Canadien people getting the same thing done i was when I was there.
His receptionist who does his appointments her name is Yaros, I do have her whatsapp # p.m me if you would like it.
I also had an injection in my back because of Bulging discs and arthritis from a violant car wreck I got into 20+ years ago that I sustained 3 lip fractures in 3 vertibrates.
