Sierra 175 gr BTHP GameKings

Has anybody here used the Sierra 175 BTHP GameKings in 308 on whitetail deer or hogs? I picked up 100 of these from Midway USA for cheap. I plan to load them for my Bergara 1:10 20" barrel. I load 150 gr for my other 308s with 1:12 twist but this Bergara doesn't like 150s at all. 2" @ 100yds. is best I can get and it doesn't seem to care for 168s either, all though I can at least get them to shoot to a little over an inch. 180 corlokts are sub MOA so I thought I'd give the SGK 175 BTHP a try. If they shoot well in my rifle I plan to hunt with them.

Shoot I would load some from 41.2 to 42.0 of IMR 4064 @2810
and send them . on my 175 SMK with a 20-inch barrel, I'm doing the 42.0 and
I'm getting 2571 for an average, and my rifle is a .5 to .7 rifle on groups.

I have a pretty good stock of I4064 on hand and I just found some Varget at the store. It's been a while since I've seen Varget on the shelf

I've been killing deer for years with that bullet and a .308. Most don't make it 15-20 yards and our PA deer are a lot larger than TX deer. We recently switched over to the TGK as my son shot a 300# boar and dumped it in its tracks. I figured what the heck and switched as well. Pretty much the same performance as the HPBT, so not worth the extra $20 a box. I'd say between my son and I, we've shot more than 30 with that caliber/bullet combo and they don't make it very far if take a step or two. I shoot mine out of an old 18" barreled Ruger M77 Manlicher and he's got a 20" Savage both 1/10 twist.

I use IMR3031, which is pretty easy to find and both guns shoot cloverleafs at 100. I'm a Sierra fan though, use their bullets exclusively in my 1000 yard matches in various calibers.

I have. That is exactly the load I have used to take two deer here in Western Montana. Gamekings (BTSP) have always performed well and are very accurate.
