6mm ppc

Thanks.....For non-sanctioned SR-BR matches ( like The Tack Driver ) it was well thought out. I DO prefer 2 port actions but this Hall is perfectly timed and a pleasure to run. I had never shot a 6ppc this heavy, it definitely left me grinning.

Regards
Rick

That is awesome Rick. I’ve been playing around with a PPC that comes in at a bit over 19 pounds in its current configuration. It’s fun to shoot. Even with the 30BR barrel screwed on it’s really tame. Good stuff.

The crutches just keep getting wider and heavier. Some call it progress. Not me.

Since that’s obviously directed at me, I will justify it even though I don’t have to.

I had this gun built to shoot UBR Unlimited class and be competitive with other guys who are using heavy guns. I may even have to go up against a rail gun or two.

I have an adjustable weight system in this gun. I purposely had it built around a long range stock in order to take advantage of 600 and 1000 yard matches should I decide to give long range a try. I can easily make 17 pounds so that box got checked too.

Lastly, I will most certainly use this gun at the Tackdriver provided I have a barrel I feel is competitive.

I think I achieved exactly what I intended this gun to be. The bonus is that I can easily sell this gun for a good dollar should I choose to do so because I didn’t pigeon hole myself with some bastard weight. Some UBR guy or long range guy would scoop this up to shoot sanctioned matches.

Instead of shitting on what others do, maybe just live and let live. If you are that concerned about what you perceive as progress or a lack there of, maybe give yourself a challenge and get a factory Sako or Ruger 6 PPC where you’d be forced to shoot against the customs up at Anderson Creek.

No Jimmy I did not direct it at you. But you brought to light what has be going on at many matches and clubs. If people want a no holds barred class then let there be an experimental class. This has led to shooting multiple guns in one class then using the one with the highest score. I relate this to everyone gets 3 strikes except my kid, he gets 5 strikes. So the mob decides no rules, then there is no game. Lots of things going to please a few while fewer and fewer get in our game and more and more leave it. UBR has an unlimited class, great, most club matches do not, maybe they should for those whom enough is never enough in their quest to say, I won. Or maybe they should be told, These are the rules, your rifle does not comply. So here is my fix. At the next multple yardage match, I am going to shoot all my targets at the closet distance but turn them in for the agg. Guns, distance, what's the difference? Just make a rule. that suits YOU. Let me emphasize Jimmy, this was not directed at you as your working within a set of rules, but many today want to change the rules for just them and it seems like they are often getting their way while shooting clubs and numbers in our sport overall decline. Well Jimmy since YOU brought it up I started in the IBS shooting a factory M70 in .222 beating more than a few custom PPCs every match for 2 years, just to set the record straight. Unfortunately over the years more then few of these clubs no longer have matches. I wonder if it's due to progress. Seems like I hurt your feelings. Not my intent, but whatever.

You clearly did not hurt my feelings. Your response regarding people using crutches did raise my hackles though. You say it was not directed at me but as best I can tell, there have only been a couple gun pics posted here that would be considered out of the norm so what’s a guy to think? Who was it directed at?

Hey Rick, I'm using LT32 28.9 grains with Barts Avengers and getting 3455, it always amazes me what .3 grains will do!! (along with different setups) Are you experiencing any bolt lift on the Hall?

I have the 18 lb gun I have on here for sale but if it doesn't sell soon I'm going to chamber it in something or may just shoot the 30BR, 6BR isn't competitive in short range but the 30 is, would have to have a different bolt to do a 6PPC.

No, I have not had any pressure signs. Bit I have not tried this load over 70* yet....Next week I am finishing up the load development on this barrel ( it's going to be in the 80's ). If I remember, I will let you know how it goes.

Weighs about 19 lbs with the PPC bblIMG_6495.jpegIMG_5897.jpegIMG_5449.jpeg

Sounds like someone beat someone with with a heavy gun here. Haha. Also, people leaving the game? How many are their to begin with?

No offense to you all, but holy s***. I see so many people on here that just want to build fun guns with extreme accuracy and people always just talking about it not making weight, or if it's a PPC you won't be competitive. It's like you all have brain bleeds and can't understand that alot of people just like to shoot and compete with themselves.

I have like 1 club by me that does unsanctioned 200 yard f class shoots. There isn't even a club within a 3 hour drive of me that does bench rest comps. The OP just asked about velocities. Change the record already about weight and rules. It's rather annoying.

One thing that's guaranteed, and if you don't believe me look at old threads. Anyone who has asked about a fun gun gets the same answers. It won't make weight, and it it's not a PPC you're not doing it right.

…..and for the sake of all things good, don’t mention a PCP air rifle or you will quickly learn how much more noble it is to run a springer.

I totally agree with Jimmymac and Eric Leonard when it comes to heavy guns. While I by no means compare to them as a shooter I do have a 6ppc and a 6 Talldog built on Hart #4 actions that are absolute boat anchors and they are a blast to shoot. I think they would have been called cruisor rifles in their day and both weigh about 28 pounds each. As time goes by I look at additional as a benefit even if it is masking my poor bench habits.
