Budget benchrest actions?

That probably sounds like it's already off to a bad start. Haha. Anyone have a favorite or a suggestion on a budget minded action. I was looking at a panda, but after tax and FFL fees I'm looking at close to $1,800. Then started looking at an atlas single shot or a stiller maybe?

Any suggestions?

Mack Bros. EVO-ll, single shot action and below your price range to leave $$ for other items forthe build. I haven't tried one yet but alot of good talk about there quality.

Surprised no one has said a kelbly single shot. Im looking into the Kauger now. I'd like stainless, but it's definitely not a deal breaker and beggars can't be choosers.

For a BR rig I would suggest the Kauger BR2 and my Revolution Stock.

Pierce Banshee. It’s not on our website yet, but it’s something I came up with for short range benchrest. Price is $1250 with a stainless action body and nitrided or DLC coated bolt. Fully coated or nitrided is $1300

Ime, if you buy anything with price being the primary reason, there is a reason why, which leads to spending money twice, when biting the bullet typically ends with you being happy with you purchase and money ahead, in the long run.
There are other good actions but a safe bet is to buy a Borden, Bat or Kelbly action specically for the disciple you plan to use it for. Those three are top shelf and you may never see a NEED to buy a different action for br work. Wants are a different story.

I think that there are people that think no one in the last 20 years have ever made anything that could possibly compete with the actions from 20 years ago.

And then go 20 years back again and you'll get the previous generation.

Although, I wonder if there has ever been a generation more dogmatic than the INTERNET generation.
