Vortex pro rings

I have a pair of vortex pro scope rings coming do you guys think I have to lap them?

Lapping rings is pretty quick and easy if you have the tools. If it were me, I would lap them. There are a lot of stacked tolerances that could make a perfect set of rings require lapping.

I lap all 2 piece rings no matter what brand or price point. Lapping will show you the high and low spots. NO rings have ever given shown me perfect alignment after lapping, even when mounted on my nice BAT, Defiance, Kelbly, or Kauger custom actions.

So for that reason, I purchase cheaper rings on Amazon made from 7075 aluminum in the configuration I want and lap them to where that have at least 80% contact. On my serious hunting and target rifles, I go a step further after lapping and bed the rings to the scope tube with JB Weld.

I edited my post with more explanation. I won’t buy expensive rings anymore for that reason. Plenty of good rings with high quality 7075 aluminum out there at a much cheaper price point.

The Monstrum Pro series are my current favorite budget rings. Very similar to Seekins which are also excellent quality, but these cost much less money.

These Monstrum PRO series rings are about $30-$40 on Amazon. 7075 aluminum with machined recoil lug on the base, T25 torx head 8-40 screws all around. They are just as good as any other high dollar 7075 AL ring. Actually just lapped a set of these for my 6mm ARC a few days ago.

Not saying your wrong just good to get different opinions. You could be very much spot on. I’m no expert on scope rings if I was I wouldn’t ask for anyone’s opinion.
