Fire forming is not a standard reloading practice (IMO).
However, in the example above (I'm the OP) I was fire forming 270 Winchester cases into 6.5 '06AI cases.

I used 14.0 grains of 700X (I have since upped it to 15.0 grains) to achieve the result you see above.
The 270 case hold a lot more powder than 15.0 grains, so I needed a way to hold the powder up against the primer and used TP. In any case you have to be gentle with the cases and try not to disrupt the powder primer relationship.
Fire forming is a dangerous thing to do. IF you choose to do it, you should speak with someone you know that has done it before.

I am not at that level, just reading everything I can and asking questions. I'm still refining my skills on the basic stuff and working on consistency in the process. Last weekend I did my first 800-yard shoot at a local shooting park and was pleasantly surprised. I could not qualify with factory ammo to shoot at the shot marker targets, but with my hand loads I qualified in 2 shots and put 11 in the black. Nothing to brag about yet, but a good improvement from what I was doing.

Well Done! Keep at it!

Yup. The cables are cheap and easily replaced. The microphones are not fun to replace, but the sensor hub is a real problem if hit. Its not just the cost, but the lead time it might take to get one.
We keep lots of spares at the club, but on my personal unit I have had guests clip my cables.
I learned my lesson and don't risk letting rookies shoot my target unless they show me they can go 5/5 on the steel targets or at least keep them very close at first.
