6.5 PRC neck clearance

This is my first 6.5 PRC. I'm using Lapua brass in a new barrel with a chamber neck of .268" My loaded round is .266" is .002" enough clearance?

It’s close. Fire a shot and see if a bullet fits in the neck of a fired case. Should fit freely with not much resistance. That’ll let you know if you have enough clearance. Just going on measurements is not a good indication…

Are you sure of your numbers? 0.268 leaves no room for the case neck thickness on a 0.264 bullet. Likewise with your 0.266 of a loaded round.

Your loaded case neck's OD should be more like .292 and with ".002" clearance would put the inside diameter at .294 (for the chamber, if I understand what your actually asking).

My 6.5 PRC loaded case necks OD's are .291" (my Lapua necks are turned) and the fired necks OD's measure .298.

I’m showing 0.2930” loaded neck diameter for my lot of Lapua brass. My ADG is a tad larger at 0.2935”….Your numbers are more in line with a 6mm.

Your numbers are not correct, no way will any 6.5 chamber have a .268 neck.

Well, ok maybe I'll check my numbers, I may have the 6 and 9 inverted. it could be .298"

Right, my bad. chamber neck is .296" loaded round is .2925"-.293" fired case is .294" approx and a projectile slips in easily with a fired case. Lapua brass unturned. So, based on that theory, I have no problems. thankyou
