The Austin Rifle Club and the Whittington Score Shooters are excited to announce we will be holding a new registered score match at the Austin Rifle Club range on June 9, 2024. The range is located at 16312 Littig Road, Manor, TX 78653.

We will be shooting your choice of either Varmint for Score or Hunter class 100 and 200 yards. We have titled the shoot as the “Texas Capital Showdown”. This should be a great new match and a good tune-up opportunity for those planning on attending the Score Nationals in July.

As an added inducement, we will plan on providing up to four hunter rifles, a mentor, and equipment if any new shooters would like to try the Hunter class for themselves. We would only ask that you reimburse the rifle owner for the cost of ammunition. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Al Elliott at 325-206-0287 or Mike Wall at 936-537-9123.

Signup, Bench draw, and flag setting will begin at 7AM on the 9th.

Shooter’s meeting will be at 8:30 am and the match will begin at 9AM. We will shoot 100 yards in the morning followed by 200 yards in the afternoon.

We will shoot the 100 yard leg from Benches 1 through 20 and then move to benches 21 through 40 to shoot the 200 yard leg. (an intermediate berm precludes shooting 200 yards from benches 1 through 20.)

Match fees will be $50.00 payable to Whittington Shooters, Inc.

No meal facilities are available so plan on providing your own meal as needed.

You will need to complete both an NBRSA signup sheet as well as an Austin Rifle Club “waiver of Liability / Assumption of Risk Agreement”.

The range will be available for limited practice from noon until sunset on June 8, 2024. We will be expected to share the range with any Austin Rifle Club members that might be present during this time.

There are limited camper facilities available for overnight stay. The only utility is electricity. No water or sewer hookups. If interested, please contact Dudley Primeaux at 512-461-5023.

You will need a gate code to enter the range. On Saturday, contact Joe Duke at 830-522-0063 or Steve Krause at 512-244-3904 to obtain the gate code.

Pre-registration will not be necessary but we would like to know in advance if you plan to attend. Please respond to Joe Duke – txdad43@protonmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing everyone turn out for the match. Come on out and make this inaugural event a match to remember.

If you have any further questions, please contact Joe Duke at txdad43@protonmail.com or 830522-0063.

Joe, that’s the same week end as the Texas State Unlimited/HV Championships in Lubbock.
Yes. We are aware. It was the only date we could get together on. Scheduling is tough with busy ranges and busy people but we wanted to bring a new match to shooters.

I will probably cancel out on the Group Match and shoot the Austin VFS Match. With Marilyn down for the count, I don’t need to be getting too far from home for too long.

Covered reloading/cleaning space at this range is limited to the benches not being used. If you have a canopy, you might bring it. June will most likely be pretty warm and you will need the shade. Along with ample water.
