Mostly just because I have it. But I have heard the xx-284 is good in LA to take advantage of seating longer without issues.XX-284 was designed to run in a short action.
Why would you run a short action cartridge in a long action?
That’s very interesting! Has anyone done this?Have always thought a standard 7-08 (AI on this case not as significant as some) in a long action properly thtosted with 162-168 high bc bullets would be very practical.
A longer barrel if useable 26-28” , and a long action allowing 2.9+” coal and you’ve be in business!!
Not the 7-08, but my 7saum is built on a LA and I seat the 197s pretty long. That’s very interesting! Has anyone done this?
I do not but have been looking. 260 SRP seems to be had fairly easyI has the same dilemma not long ago. I did a 6.5-284. I was also thinking of 6.5x55, 6mm remington, or a 257 roberts. Do you have any components on hand to load? That's were I look is what I'll need vs what I've got on hand.
I've got a couple 260 guns. Love the cartridge. I thought about going ackley and long freebore but decided that I'd rather not fireform and just use 6.5-284 brass I got in a trade. I'll eventually do a straight 284 in a long action. Just gotta wear out a barrel first.I do not but have been looking. 260 SRP seems to be had fairly easy
