I recently bought some 22 Hornet stuff from a forum member. Mostly Remington nickel brass, some Winchester and Remington brass and some that was blown out to k-Hornet but I would hsve paid as much as I did for the whole lot for just the one box of military survival 22-Hornet rounds that was in the box of stuff!…
I’m not going to shoot them I’ll make a little display outta it I think.

That is neat. What year are they from do you think?

Not sure exactly I haven’t looked it up yet but WWll so somewhere between 41-45 I assume but will try to find out for sure.

It's been awhile since I read Col. Whelen book but I recall a chapter dedicated to the hornet. I'll try to look tonight and see if there is any info.

That was ammo that was loaded for an Airforce survival rifle. It came in soft point as well as full metal jacket. I still have several boxes of the stuff. Nothing shot better in my Pre-64 Mod 70 Hornet.

There should be as he and another guy was involved in the cartridge, I read about it a long time ago but I would be happy to read whatever you come up with

Bob, this has the soft point and they look like where you can see on the case where the bullet ends it’s heavier than 45 grains , I may pull one to weigh it….. Thank you

Good article on the history of the air force survival rifle. It was a 22 Hornet over a 410 shotgun.

Clip from the article

The M6 Aircrew Survival Weapon was a specially-made .22 Hornet over .410 bore combination gun issued to United States Air Force aircrews to help forage for food in the event of a plane crash.[1] It was issued from 1952 until the early 1970s, in conjunction with the M4 Survival Rifle. Plans to replace both with the ArmaLite AR-5 (aka: MA-1) never came to fruition and in 2018 was instead replaced with the GAU-5A Aircrew Self Defense Weapon in some instances.[2]

Mike Venturino of Handloader Mag. is just 3 miles over the hill behind our home. He is old military guru anything to do with that kind of guns and ammo from WW1/WW2 he would be your very good source for info. 406/222-2659
