Comparators - Another Option - Ugly Reloading

I've been pretty happy with my SAC comparators, but I needed another couple of inserts and it was just as much as this complete set from Ugly Reloading. Now that I have it in-hand, I must say it was worth it.

I wish the anvil/body unit used thumb screws, but I can live with set screws.

Overall, it feels like a nice unit and is a complete set.

Any chance of getting a close-up shot of the edge that engages the bullet/case? I'd like to get an idea of the chamfer they use on there.

You can get these from Amazon for $50 with free shipping to Prime Members.

I’ve had my eye on them for awhile more. I have the Hornady set already, but these look like better quality.

I ordered one of these direct from Ugly Reloading. I wanted an extra base so I could have one set up for checking bullets and one for checking shoulder bump. The sent me another base with my order with a thumb screw lock for an extra $10. So far I'm very happy with the set. One thing I did notice is that when comparing measurements between the Hornady and the Ugly Reloading I get about .005 difference in length.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm close to getting one of these sets.

0.005 is, in my opinion, well within range for me. About a year ago I thought I lost my #11 - 37 cal Hornaday insert, so I ordered another one. Well while the new one was shipping, I ended up finding the first one. The two side by side are 0.006 different. So I just made sure to permanently mark the one I prefer using and on the other I marked that it's 0.006 longer.

I think I will take a chance on the UGLY comparators. I have the annealer and I love it. Also, taking a hard look at the UGLY SRT (Shoulder Referenced Trimmer)

The bevel can be a yea or nay. What you asking the tool to do is compare one load to another and as long as it does that consistently it is doing it's job. I would think with the anodizing it would be less prone to wear than the Hornaday bare aluminum one also.

I guess measuring bump is real now time between the two measurements, so wear on the tool shouldn’t give anything false.
