Why ? Forester FL sizing die LE Wilson FL Bushing die

I FL-sized 25 pieces of the same lot of Peterson brass in a Forester FL sizer, and 25 pieces of the same lot of Peterson brass in a LE Wilson Bushing die. Both cases have the same load and the same number of firings. All the brass from the Forester needs trimming, but none from the LE Wilson bushing dies needs trimming. What's up with this?

Does the Forester have the expander ball system in tact ?
If so, the expander may be pulling the necks during the press upstroke.

Measure the shoulder diameter and compare between the sets. You'll probably find that the Forster sizes the shoulders slightly smaller than the Wilson.

I don’t know, I was just guessing the Forster ball expander was pulling brass out from somewhere to cause the extra length.

Your just pulling the case with expander most likely, try lubing the inside of neck. Or just use the Wilson it’s a much nicer die imho anyways.

Yes. the shoulders are slightly smaller

When the die squeezes the shoulder to a smaller diameter and then bumps it down 2 thou, the displaced brass follows the path of least resistance; to the neck. This is not a bad thing. If the neck did not get longer the displaced brass would form a donut.

Keep using the Wilson die. They do work very well.

It's like squeezing a tube of toothpaste. The more you squeeze it, the more comes out the end. That brass has to go somewhere.
