Francis Scott Key Bridge, Baltimore Md.

There was a crew working on the bridge at the time. Only two people accounted for. Also about seven vehicles detected underwater. Hopefully they pull out more people. If this happened at 7am there would have been hundreds of fatalities

It's bad. Ships are stuck at our harbor and other ships are stacking up waiting to get in. Likely months before there is access again.

Unbelievable footage of the accident happening. It looks like the ship lost power at some point in it's approach. So many questions.

The ship's crew sounded a Mayday and traffic was stopped on the bridge just minutes before the collapse. The vehicles and any people in the water were part of a maintenance crew that was working on the span.

Could have been so much worse

How could this have happened?
I am sorry for the individuals involved. I can't imagine witnessing this. I have so many emotions going
through my mind about the current administration. They are not capable of protecting anyone! A ship that size, would take a mile to slow down. And all we see is puffs of black smoke and lights going on and off 100 yards in front of the bridge.
Shouldn't there be tugboats to help guide it under the bridge if necessary and as in this case? Something isn't right here. Think about this for a minute....
Look at that bridge and the placement the ship must go through. Ridiculous! Also look at the speed of the ship in the video. It is moving way too fast....jmo
Talk about kinetic energy.

Relax, they have Mayor Pete to manage these disasters. Look how well he fixed E. Palistine, Boeing maintenance issues, west coast supply chain problems. This could have been one of those racist bridges he wanted to get rid of.

As the ship us from Singapore I won't be a bit surprised if we learn it was poorly maintained.

I've read the same ship was involved in a collision in 2016 while approaching a harbor as well. I'm not familiar with these incidents so that may or may not be unusual. I'd think given the cost of damages it doesn't happen often but that's just my guess.

Wow! Couldn’t have aimed it any better.
That’s what I thought as well. After 9/11 every time I went somewhere I tried to limit my exposure to what I thought might be interesting targets of opportunity. With the porous border, it might be time to go back to that mindset.

The likely culprit is poor judgement on someone’s part.

How could this have happened? Shanghai based...the I-95 corridor?

This is standard procedure for almost 50 years. Tugs get it into the shipping lane then the ship maneuvers on its own. Yes ships this big react slowly but they are piloted by men who are extremely capable. A loss of power is not a normal occurrence.

This bridge is not on I95. It's on the Baltimore beltway.

Near the 95 corridor/ port of Baltimore? Does it appear the speed is excessive?

They have not stated that the speed was abnormal. This bridge being dropped blocks the port and traps the ships that are in there.

Sometimes things just happen. Always trying to blame someone or ascribe a political reason shows a lack of reason and empathy.

Are you sure it's a drawbridge?

It doesn't look anything like one?

Just saw an audio where someone is yelling turn right multiple times before saying turn left. Right would be turning toward the support pillar! Yes, I know the difference in proper terms is starboard or port. If the video is true, someone messed up biggly!
