"Poorman's" PCPS by deracco engineering overview and set up

Made by the same folks who make the ugly annealer. You can pick yours up from ugly reloading USA for just $220.

When I first saw it I knew I had to try it, I already have a primal rights CPS that i'm very happy with, but I love new reloading gear, and I think this will fill a nice niche for me as dedicated primer seater for my new 6 dasher BR gun. I reload alot of different cartridges and it can be a little bit of a pain setting up for a new cartridge all the time.

Anyways check out the video I just uploaded. I am super excited to try this out soon!

Can't pick it up if all the site only uses is youtube and facebook for presentation. No other data displayed or presented. Even for their annealer.

Similar to the CPS Lite. And, about the same price as the CPS Lite. Of course, the CPS Lite has not been made on a few years.
Not saying the CPS hasn't been a success, but I do think they should have kept the lite.

Sort of reminds me of the labradar/garmin debacle. It's been 10 years since primal rights released the base CPS, going that long without innovating/updating leaves the door open for others to move in on you and perhaps outdo you.

Just ordered one of these from Carl. Very nice guy to speak to over the phone BTW. Unfortunately, they are on back order right now. Evidently they are held up at customs and a shipment will arrive soon.

I've been using a K&M for BR stuff and a Lee hand prime since 1990 for everything else. Never though the day would come that the hand prime is a PITA with aging hands, but it sucks now. Haha. Anyhow anxious to try this prime tool. I have a Harrells BR press I'm going to dedicate for its use...should work out well...

@ridgeway I received mine the other day. Set it up and played a little with it. Didn’t seat any new primers yet but used it to even up some that were already seat in prepped brass. Seems to do very well. I did the same thing you have mentioned. Dedicated press for it. Just gonna make it easier and more convient when needed.
He was showing 18 or 20 in stock end of last week. They must went pretty quick.

im in the process of making a new video comparing the cps to the pcps. all i can say is precision wise its spot on with the primal rights unit. only thing remaining is long term durability, which im pretty confident it will hold up quite well.

Anyone set one up in a LnL press? I don't have the bench space for another dedicated press and like my LnL set up.

One thing to consider with the Deracco is where your press handle ends up at the bottom of the stroke for seating primers. For me, it's not at the bottom of the press' normal stroke. I'm using LNL bushings on my press and still want full to access the micrometer on the bottom of the seater, so there's a few extra things controlling the unit's depth. It could be buried up in the LNL bushing more, but I need to adjust it more often for loading large and small primers. On my RockChucker, The handle bottoms out about 1/3rd of the way down. It's in an awkward position overall to have consistent downward pressure. Well ... at least it is for me, standing. I wish it was closer to the top (so you're pulling toward you) or further to the bottom. I've actually ordered the Inline Fabrication ergonomic handle to see if I can change it around from the stock position. In the end, I may have to ditch the LNL bushing kit.

Later today, I'll have a real CPS unit; I already have this Deracco as well as a Holland unit. If you have any other comparison questions, I'm happy to test something out.

Seems like using the LNL bushings, with all the slop in them, would defeat the whole process of getting consistent primer seating depth. Which I would assume is the point of this tool in the first place. With this much leverage seems like guys are just crushing primers to get a consistent reading on an indicator. I guess I don't see the point of this expensive tool compared to the RCBS equivalent when it comes to seating primers. Just because the indicator reading is the same does not mean the seating pressure is the same, one just got crushed more than the other. Just my take on it. Prime on.
