ATF Budget Reduction Legislation

So if ATF is losing funds, will this slow down background checks ( suppressors) and such?

I am sorry, but stop the foolishness. The process is the punishment. They were given money to start the efile system with the claim that it would speed up processing. That never happened. Take the money away. I can’t believe my ears when I hear someone say that the answer to a poorly performing government is to give them more money. SMH. Worked real well with education didn’t it.

I just picked up a suppressor last week, after e-file I waited 11 days. Many, many others are reporting between 2-30 days. My can I got before e-file was 13 months. So it has sped up processing.

I've seen HUNDREDS of 1-5 day approvals within the last few weeks. However, Trust applications don't seem to have been sped-up, any.

It makes ZERO sense that Trust Form 4's still take so long, especially when it's the 3rd, 4th, etc. item being added to the Trust.

I have tried making a list of the things the government does that make sense. I could use a little help, as I have a little writer's block. Here is what I have so far:
1)
2)
3)
4)

I don't like paying taxes any more than anyone else, but when programs get cut to save money the first thing that goes are services like background checks and maintenance for roads and bridges.
In Tucson, it seems even with the funds the roads don't get fixed. It is selective repair or replacement, apparently based on the area (affluent/university). We have potholes that will swallow motorcycles in this town. It wouldn't surprise me if ATF retaliates against gun owners. Petty people.

Defunding is not enough. They should be abolished. As for supressors, I have a few but they should not even be an NFA item. The fact that I can buy a gun in a few minutes, but have to jump through hoops to buy a device that protects my ears when when using that gun, is absolutely absurd.

I can almost get behind simply requiring a background check like a pistol/rifle, but to be regulated by the NFA makes zero sense. Same for short barrel rifles. It's stupid. Rant over.

While I support GOA, let’s be real this cut is pennies on the dollar and won’t matter. I work for DOI, and the particular bureau I work in got a 41 million dollar cut, which is less than 3% of our entire budget. Heck, the proposal for 2025 is to up it 122.9 million. So, let’s increase the budget triple of what we just cut. You would think the sky is falling, but most of the cuts is less than all the BS funding we got in BIL and IRA funding. Let’s get real and cut the budget even more next year.
