I need to Youth size a standard rifle

I need to youth size an Interarms mark X for my son. It is just the reg wood stock. Hes currently fairly small for 11yrs but has a good chace of being a large adult. Id like to have an option to kind of un-youth it as he grows. Any one got any great tips for this? id like it to not be hideous but it doesnt need to be very pretty. He will likely get his first deer with it this fall which will keep resale from being an issue either.

Keep an eye out on gunbroker or place a want ad for a stock that will fit that model. Once you have one, take the less pretty of the two and shorten it to fit him. I just did the same thing with an M70 Featherweight.

When my daughter was young, I just sectioned the rear of the stock (like a spacer) and was able to just screw it back together later. I wouldn't do it for an expensive gun, but he's only 11 and just learning... I bet he'd be happy with ANYTHING!

If you cut the stock and put threaded inserts in the stock, spacers and long screws will allow you to make it longer over time.

Pull it apart and cut it with a chop saw. I just did a Cricket for a guy. I cut 4” off. I wrapped the butt cut with tyvec tape, clamped the stock with the butt straight up and poured some black colored epoxy on the cut to create a cheap butt plate.

Go to STOCKY'S and see what one of their cheapest stocks cost and cut that one, that way you will have the original when he grows up.
