Anyone use the 95g smk

I used them for 200 and 300 yds for highpower. They shoot great, but for the past couple years have been unobtainable. I won a certificate for 1,000 at the 2021 NRA Nationals, or 2 years Sierra never could fill the 95 order so I got 107s in 2023 instead.

I have used the 95 Gr SMK and found the results similar to 107 Gr SMK. Needed a slightly larger powder charge( 0.5 Gr).
I used the 95 SMK for the last several seasons when the 107 SMK were not available in 6BR prone rifle for midrange (600yd) and they performed similarly (with a slight bump in powder). Very accurate and just as forgiving as the 107s. I had heard that somewhere that they use the same die for both bullets so that may be true.

Note, that if Bryan Litz's measurements are to be believed, the new (factory pointed) version differs from the original with a shorter bearing surface and longer less sharply radiused neck section, so may require some seating adjustment.

What kind of velocity did you get with the 95’s

A few years back at the 1000 yard VBS matches at Ridgway Pa we had a brand-new shooter with a used straight 6 br Savage 9 twist. He was shooting 95 SMK. I was thinking he would leave hits standing. He was shooting in the middle 20s from match one on. Never had a hit that did not fall. I was impressed.

to tell the truth, I don't know. I ran with 32.1 Varget under the 95s in standard 6BR. Probably not max velocity but it shoot X's at 600 if I do my part. Last 6 strings in comp (600 with scope and sling at 600), averaged 198 with 10 x. To the OP, if I was using a Dasher/BRX/BRA/etc, I'd just go with the 105-107s for better BC unless I happen into a stash of 95's for a good price.

I love these 95gr SMK's I've used thousands in my 6XC barrels. I shoot XTC and like to use them for 200 & 300yds. I notice the difference in recoil between these and the 112 Match Burners that I like to use for 600yds.

I have a 6BRA that I bought used - it has a heavy MTU contour barrel, so I don't know that I'll shoot it for XTC at all. However it really likes these 95gr SMK and the 112's as well. One problem that I noticed is that where I like to seat it the bullet doesn't touch the lands - so I don't use it for fireforming. I use some old seconds that I bought years ago...they still hold x ring on a 200yd SR target.

Good Luck,
Ross

How do the 112g do in the bra

The 112's have done well in everything I've used them in.

Well, let me start off by saying that my last three 6XC barrels have all been slow. They are so accurate that I don't care that they're slow - but they are slow. My 600yds load is running about 2925fps. I can't get anywhere near the 3000fps mark.

In 6BRA using IMR-4166 (now discontinued but I bought a lot when I couldn't find RL15) and with a 112gr Match Burner it can keep up with my current 6XC barrel....but with 10gr less powder o_O. Super accurate....almost no felt recoil.

Wow that is fast for a bra I’m only getting 3125 with the 95 smk got them up to 3200 but they like the 3125 a lot better
