I am a little confused now. I just measured the thread. They are 16 treads. What do I have?"The Savage Target action which I’m sure you are all aware comes threaded 1 1/8-20 (1.125 dia. OD) UN for the large shank barrels and the small shank barrels use 1 1/16-20 (1.050 dia. OD) UN."
Walt the ID of the non-threaded part is 1.090".Remage nut
The top of the threads measure. 1.122" ( major diameter ) on my barrel. That is the part the the 1.090" has to slide over.I get 1.078" for the forward part of a small shank Savage barrel nut.
Got burrs on the barrel threads? Can you check the thread OD? Does the barrel screw in to your action?
The threads on a Remington should be 1-1/16"-16 tpi. So, the major diameter on the barrel should be ~1.0625". That nut with a 1.090" ID should rattle down until the threads engage.
Thanks Rocketvapor."The Savage Target action which I’m sure you are all aware comes threaded 1 1/8-20 (1.125 dia. OD) UN for the large shank barrels and the small shank barrels use 1 1/16-20 (1.050 dia. OD) UN."
+1. The barrel also doesn't have a Rem counterbore. The breech is flat like a Savage.Have you had this barrel screwed into the action yet.
Those don't look like 16 TPI on it.
They sent the correct Nut. You have the wrong barrel.
Yes I did. I have too many barrels. I was trying to fit that nut to one of my large shank Savages. Found the right barrel and it fits. My wife passed away years ago from Alzheimer's. I have often thought it might be contagious. Thanks to all that tried to help this old dude.Have you had this barrel screwed into the action yet.

You are right it is a Savage. I finally found a Remington barrel and it screwed right on. Turned 80 last Dec. and have gone straight down hill. Thanks.+1. The barrel also doesn't have a Rem counterbore. The breech is flat like a Savage.
