Gouging

And the shooter that buys stuff for $10.00 and turns around and sells it to YOU for $50.00, is NOT YOUR FRIEND!! And don't let him try tell you any different!!

A few years back, when Lapua 6BR brass was REAL HARD to get, I got on the back order lists. When it broke free, I had brass coming out of my ears.
Sold a box shipped for about $2.00 more than I had in it.
I was happy and so were the folks that couldn't get any.
You gouge folks, watch out for the Karma train.
Blatant example of that in the Classifieds yesterday and today.

WE must get some of our people that know how to negotiate and problem solve to the table during any discussion of shooting or taxing products. So much legislation being discussed and passed at the local, state and federal levels are aimed at the legal, no threat citizen. It only causes inconvenience, angers us and doesn't stop crimes or really generate enough taxes to do much. It creates government haters. Face the facts, we are people that participate in a minority activity. We need trained negotiators at the table. The professional 'gun lobby' hasn't been very effective, something needs to change. "If you aren't at the table, you're on the menu."

I agree in principle and it's always nice to be able to help a friend or to get a deal but I don't care what someone's cost is if it's offered at a fair price or better. Good for him if he's able to make me a deal and still make a few bucks at the same time.

Was taught a long time ago about business...it's not what you sell it for but what you buy it for that matters most. Still good advice and practice.

Most folks DON'T like getting SCREWED!! If YOU screw someone, they WILL remember and WILL tell their friends.
Getting a good deal and getting SCREWED ARE two different things.

Unless you are particularly uninformed, the going price is something you are familiar with. Some people are willing to pay whatever it costs if it's something that they want. Others won't.

So ultimately, if you overpay then look in the mirror for the person to blame.

Well, idiots jumped right on it. I fault the seller for not charging enough. They want to throw common sense out the window and bend over, good, give to to them. So last week I bought 7000 shots for 161.00. I get the same good feeling shooting a group in the zeros at 20 meters with my TX200 as I do as shooting a group in the zeros at 100yds with a centerfire bench gun. Oh, I did not need to reload or clean. I laugh every day. Keep paying, at some point there will be a couple of shooters at every match.

I think the gun shows in my area we should banned. Everytime they have one the prices are through the roof. The gun store 6 blocks away sells stuff cheaper. Plus they have a sale on certain items just to piss off the gun show jerks. For all that pm'd me on who the big stores were. Look around. None of the stores close to me mave real good deals. But they have sign's they will beat competitor's prices by 5%. Hold them to it. Do your home work in your town. There has been all the primers you want in stock and sold to all the managers buddies at your local store. Just a kick in your face to be sold at next weeks gun show. Call their asses out on it.

LGS owner told me that to replace imr4198 would cost him $62.99 once his stock sells. Maybe someone is gouging him. You know his price will be a minimum of $69.99.

Would you folks prefer to look at empty shelves of "fair priced" goods or stocked shelves with "gouging priced" goods? Nothing straightens out limited supply and/or increased demand faster than free markets. Period. Passing "feel good" anti-gouging laws only lengthens the duration of the pain.

Decent explanation:
"But are anti-gouging laws really socially beneficial in the way that their proponents claim?

I want to argue that they are not. And that, in fact, such laws make matters worse by preventing prices from playing their irreplaceable role as the signal and incentive that people need to both carefully ration the existing limited supply of goods and bring new supplies to the market. The best way to deal with the destruction of supplies or extraordinary increases in demand is to let prices do their job."
