Winchester Boyd Stock

I understand boyd stocks are a priced well stock. I have a winchester model 70 coyote 2 piece bottom short action and can't find anything besides a boyd. But has anyone has problems like I just received from them i don't know if returning it and getting a different one will change anything that I'm experiencing. I understand they say may need some fitting but it is way off.

Ii got one a few years back for a ruger american. Did not fit at all. Took to a gunsmith and had him finish the fitting.
May I ask what the cost of something like that is? And did you have areas where it was splintered apart already? And cut and shaped crooked in the front? Or am I being to picky?

I paid the smith $100 to fit it and bed it. It was splintered around where action cut was. I was going to have him bed it anyways i just wanted to see it together first. Would not go so i just took it over to him.

Looks that you are going to need to do some inletting for that barrel and then perhaps the action will be a better fit in the stock. Or, take the barrel off and see how it fits. Boyd's specs the width of the barrel channel, did you compare that to your barrel. I think "drop in fit" doesn't really mean much unless you are putting the barreled action back in the stock it came out of.

I made it happen. First time bedding and doing pillars too.
I, for one, am duly impressed, a great job for a first rattle out of the box. We will need a shooting report.
