I have never seen a Savage Target Action that wasn't a Large Shank?? I have (6) of them and they all have target action written on the side of the action and they are all 4.4 screw spacing.

Yes, it's a single shot action. Thanks to everyone helping me. I'm a Remington guy and know very little about the various Savage actions. The pictures are the best description.

don't those Savages short. I have a lot of Remington's too but those Savage's are shooters for sure. And they will shoot as good as anything made even the custom stuff and a lot better that most by far.

Ron is correct. Single shot small shank varmint action. Savage made these basically before the target action came out on their BVSS-S model. They also made them in a blues finish for a bit as well. Very nice actions, and this one with a great trigger. Wish I had a stock to fit it!

I've been using the same stainless single shot action for many years in F- class competition and found it to be an excellent solid action to build off. All you need is a competition recoil lug and you're in business.
If I didn't own one already, I'd buy it.

It is a Laminate Benchrest stock. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for in my want ad for my 4.4 action, but now that build gets moved to this action instead
