Barrel contour

I bought a m24/m40 Bartlein contour barrel a while back on the forum. Getting my pieces together and it’s not going to play well with the stock as I really don’t want to have it opened up. What’s the next contour down from the makers would it be heavy varmint ? I’d like to stay between a sendero and heavy varmint to dodge any stock work. Thanks

Bartlein's Light Varmint or Standard Target contours. They both have the same breach dimesion, 1.200 as the M24/M40. The Light is .875 muzzle and Standard is .820 muzzle.

Ok. I knew it would fit in a krg bravo stock but one never got posted. A bergara hmr did for a decent price and I thought ah ha !! Those are nice stocks and bought it but it’s not near big enough lol. I’ll keep the barrel and watch for a krg I guess

Understood. The KRG's are decent. I have 2 for "workhorses" and they ergonomically resemble my Sako TRG's as well.

Grab a wooden dowel or anything that will fit in the stock barrel channel and wrap it in sandpaper and then start sanding the barrel channel of the stock. Should take you about 15 minutes to open it up. Then just repaint it to seal it and done. So much easier to do than buying a new barrel. It's very easy.

Possibly a medium Palma would fit the bill.

Do you know what the stock you have is inlet for?

Has anything been done to the barrel? If not it could be re-contuored relatively easily (assuming it’s not fluted). Let me know if you need someone to do that for you or would like to discuss further.

Regards,
Forrest

Nothing needs to be recontoured except the stock barrel channel. Takes no time at all. If he wants to waste money he can bring it to my house and I’ll charge him $200 to do it. Lol

It’s a bergara hmr rifle stock. I believe those rifles were the same contour as the remington senderos. My barrel has not been contoured nor has any flutes.
