UPDATE ARKEN - QUALITY & DEPENDABILITY ?

Bought an EP5 for a pal to put on his CZ
With the 25% off tax etc to us for just under $500
After three weeks with it I ordered me one
I use Tract Torics on my other rifles and feel like there is Nothing that will touch those in their price range but...for 1/3 the $$ of those the EP5 is a stunner--In my opinion it is the #1 best value out there--crisp, bright, tracks as good as I need--zero issues here just smiles!
I install a LOT of scopes for folks--The EP5 is a LOT of scope for the $$ period!
I have seen no diff when it comes to mirage as mentioned before--zero
I've noticed no difference in mirage between the Leupold LRP scopes that I sold to move to the EP-5.

I have a dipshit brother that knows nothing about optics. He thinks that Arkon optics are good bc he heard a SEAL owns the company, he's a "Fan Boy"....... SMH. Anyway, he caught our father alone and convinced him to buy this scope-value-pack-sale that Arkon had about 2 years ago. I put it on my father's 280 AI and I really like the reticle and the glass is fine but other than that.... It is junk. The elevation knob just came off so the tracking was terrible even when i put it back on. It's JUNK IMO
I heard a few people say that they were going to sell some of their other scopes (IMO better scopes) to buy Arkon scopes bc they were THAT impressed.... Well, I have a 6-24 x 50 MOA to trade for one of those scope if you want back up what you said.
Cheers Boys,
Username checks out.

I've had no issues with my EP5, it's clear, it tracks, etc... Other than being a brick weight wise and a beast size wise, it's fine. Would i buy another, maybe not but until I have issues with it I see no reason to remove it. maybe I have no issues because of the left side bolt/eject orientation? ;-)

Just picked up a used ep4 and discovered the magnification adjustment isn’t working properly, slightly changed magnification at the high end and low end of magnification range. Nothing happens in the middle. Emailed customer service we’ll see what they can do

I took the leap after being cautious all this time and bought a epl-4. 4x16x44. It’s sweet I have been in all kinds of lighting angles and situations and have no complaints about the glass in this scope. Only things I don’t like is the illumination knob is hard as can be to turn, and out at distance the image only seems to get in focus on infinity. I don’t know if that is an Arken trait or not. Chime in if anybody else scope does the same

Cheers Boys,
Opinions are like elbows every one has a couple.

I always find comments like this interesting. Did you contact Arken for any support? I really doubt it.
The elevation knob came off, maybe YOU did not set the zero stop up correctly?

I was in a prairie dog patch and had no manual with me, along with a question. This was on a Sunday, I went ahead and emailed them. I had an answer to my question in about 2 hours on a Sunday!!
That sold two guys that day. Between 4 buddies and I we have no less than a dozen. A couple are optic snobs, no they are not a NF or Swarovski, but I have found the Arken to equal or better some others that are 2-3x’s as much.

You must be a "Fan Boy"
"Optic snob"? You are adorable.... what are you like 85 years old or are you a salesman of crappy optics??
Well..... I will be a SHOT if you have a booth or you work for Arkon I can meet you there and we can debate the "quality" of your optic? I'd enjoy that....

Well said. Fan-ning the flame. Oh well!

Don't understand the cause of argument here. It was the same when the Vortex hit the scene. If you have $5-6 hundred to spend on a scope, Arken's seem to be a decent scope, as are others. I own scopes up to $2k, and thought they were great, Trijicon, Sightron SIII, Leupold....UNTIL i looked through a ZCO and Kahles. The old saying "money talks and bullshoot walks" is true. With that said, I did buy a Arken ep5 moa to mount on a 243 lbc ar15 for matches that go out to 500 meters...it worked great ! Tracked like it should, and using hold off for wind the reticle matched moa. Now, if I had $16-18k to spend on glass, I would have all Kahles and ZCO'S.....but not in this lifetime?rsbhunter

I understand your feelings Bill. I shoot matches at a set, higher magnification. So, I can deal with the ffp. But, I had a $1500 ffp on a rifle that I used for hunting, and at lower power, with old eyes, the cross hair was almost useless. If given the chance, I go with sfp and moa. rsbhunter

I don't even own this scope for a year, and it lost that much value?~25%
