CCI 450 instead BR4 on 6,5x47 Lapua

Hi to all!

Here I've found 1k of 450 at less of the half price of BR4.
So I ask to this forum if the 450 is usable on this caliber whitout trouble.

On my reading of "anglo" forum's I've found that cci 450 are preferred to BR4, also on the shooting competitions.
On EU BR4 is preferred to other primer on x47 Lapua.

Now I use Fiocchi SRM but I'm a novice....

Bullets are Berger 140gn 26414, Scenar 139gn.
Powders that I use is N140, N150 and RS50.

Thanks for replyes

Along with the excellent posts above, I’ve found that in my receiver these two primers are quite close to one another in performance. The very best way I’ve learned to test them is side by side in a charge ladder format judging not only overall grouping but identifying just how the load comes in and out of tune. The node may move slightly up or down in charge rate or may remain the same. In my case the overall was better and was less course coming into tune with the one I choose yet the ideal charge weigh is basically the same.

Hope this helps you.

I ran a test in my 6.5 CM with both of these primers.

BR4 primers had higher velocity and higher SD.

CCI450 were slower velocity, lower SD and had better accuracy.

BUT........that could all change on the next lot tested.

CCI 450s are the small rifle primer of choice of many. I would buy them, fine tune my load and shoot with confidence.

Hello JFrank!
Thanks for your post and yours suggestion.

Yes, I keep in my mind to make this test whit BR4, 450, Fiocchi SRM and Winchester WSR.
Same load, same bullet, same measures for the cartridge.

Thanks!
