Hornady changing up ??

I would like to get some of their 6mm AMP jackets that they make their 65 grn V-Max bullets on to make some of my 68 grn Match Bullets.

Ya' know Jackie.....I'm just wondering if you could pull that tip out and
run it up in your die, or just in a tipping die. Might come up with some-
thing needing a 20 twist barrel.....As I like to say.....Never let a bad idea
go to waste !! LOL

When I got an AR10 in 260 Remington I loaded some 140 grain Bergers and used a load that was not very close to max in my Mauser. Not stellar accuracy and brass looked like it had been run over with the lawnmower. I called my friend that has the AR10s in Tennessee, He says go to JP rifles site and read on loading for an AR10 in 260. So I read it and JP himself wrote the paragraph or two on it and he says go to 120 class bullets and load lighter if you don't want beat up brass. So I get some Nosler 123 custom comp and lo and behold, nice brass, good accuracy smiles all around. I don't think its mandatory but I liked it a lot better. Back then 123 Nosler custom comp were $26 and change, recently $51 now Christmas special $46.
My 308 AR 10 originally trashed brass pretty bad. I went to an adjustable gas block and it got a whole lot better. I buy once fired Winchester for it most of the time as you can run through brass depredation hunting. Now if I want brass that lasts I used Lake City, LC Long Range, and LC National Match. It's tough as goat sperm. But necking it down to 260 I'm sure you'd have to turn necks and anneal.

I recently acquired a Tikka T3 lite in 270W. I'm just starting load development but the rifle put 5 rounds into .650" @ 100yds with a 130 gr. Hornady CX bullet. I'm also testing Speer Hot core and Grand slam, Barnes LRX and Sierra game changer bullets.
I will continue to test as time and weather permit.

Is Hornady going to fix the problem of their match bullets not making it to the target, or are they going to keep their heads in the sands and act like it is not a problem?

As an FClass shooter, I do not plan to shoot their “match” bullets until I am able to shoot them in a “match” without worry of them going poof!!

I have no problem with tipped bullets but I think you hit the nail on the head about the Grendel guys liking the non-tipped bullets and being mag fed from an AR15.

All day Long, huh.

I sure wish my Benchrest Rifles would do that.
i know it sounds silly, and take with a grain a salt when i say all day (i dont usually shoot more than 10 rounds out of it in a session), but its the most consistent/reliable rifle i have ever shot. it just does what i want it to everytime. i can drill 1/2 moa targets with EASE on the first round out to 800ish yards. i dont compete with it, just take it out to show off every now and then.....

5 shots at 314 yards at my home range

Im not trying to knock anyone, but i have had no luck whatsoever with hornady rifle bullets. I can find a good load for every other manufacturer, just not with hornady.

when i bought my 300 rum, the previous owner used berger 230 hybrids. due to the shortage, i switched to 225 eldm's after i ran out, they produced better results for me than the bergers to my surprise......

They can take all of their fancy jackets and super-duper tips and shove them. Give me a 140 or a 123 grain Amax from the past and make it where I can afford it again.

Left tipped bullets long ago. Found tips wobbling, breaking off when feeding, and Hornady sst blowing up on impact when hunting. In fact, I cant recall last time I bought a Hornady bullet

Have you tried the 140 ELD-M? I have shot many thousands of the 140 AMAX in matches over the years and switched to the ELD-M and would never go back to the AMAX. I think I might have some 140 AMAX somewhere if you wanted to buy them. LOL
